Since you have to give your personal data to your phone company to get a SIM in this country, isn't getting another SIM giving it to twice as many companies and doubling your chance of it being hacked or stolen?
I don’t think he’s referring to phone companies in his statement.

I recently bought this $10 Amaysim sim (was $30) and was able to activate it on 365 days PAYG.
From that logic it should also work on Amaysim $9.75 Cashback on $10 32GB SIM however definitely double check with the comments if it will work.

Anyone know if the $5 starter pack with ALDI mobile does the same? It seems to say the $5 expires after 60 days but the number is valid for 365 days.
I just got off the phone with ALDI mobile.
It looks like this year they have changed their plan for the $5 starter pack.
Used to be able to last you 1 year but , as you pointed out, now only last you 60 days.
So, 60 days after activation, your plan expires.
And when you plan expires, you have another 120 days to recharge before you lose your number.
And during those 120 days , there is no guarantee you will receive SMS from some companies, e.g. wise.com or Whatsapp (during installation).
You cannot even SMS 590 to ALDI to find out your balance. That is the case near the end of 120 days for me.
So, the $5 ALDI sim I bought back in mid February 2024 is no longer such a great deal for keeping a phone number alive for 1 year.
However, the $5 ALDI sim I bought back in December 2023 last year can still last me 1 year until end of 2024.
