[PC, Steam] 90% off Dragon Age: Origins $3.99, 2: Ultimate Edition $3.99 and Inquisition $4.99 @ Steam

860

Looks like a decent deal for Steam versions. Gonna replay these on my steamdeck though Veilguard looks pretty trash for long time fans.

Morrigan is bae.

Does, this need the ea launcher? Last game I bought did and never played it 😕

Any ea game on steam needs ea app

    • +4

Most EA games require the launcher. If it does, there will be a notice on the right side of the Steam page down a bit that states so. Most of the newer games do but with some exceptions like the Dead Space remake. Looking at Dragon Age specifically, Origins looks like it doesn't need the EA app but the others do.

How do these play on steamdeck?

    • Inqastion plays great. I did have to use a custom proton version to get the controller working properly though

  • Only inquisition has controller support iirc?

    • 2 has a PS3 version so I imagine it would have controller support on Steam.

      • thats not a guaranteed as F.E.A.R and F.E.A.R 2 has ps3/360 port but on PC no controller support, in saying so buyers need to check before buying if thats dealbreaker.

      • 2 was made in like 9 months under extreme time crunch when EA had taken over, so I wouldn't be surprised if it just wasn't added on PC.

    get origins skip inquisition lol

It seems to be a common thing I read online but I really enjoyed Dragon Age Inquisition.

Something about that game clicked with me and I actually preferred it.

    • no sexual contents in Inquisition right? XD

Check your Epic Games library for Inquisition before you buy. Was free not long ago if you claimed it.

Origins was one of my all time fav games. So sad that the series just went to poop

    • Bioware to a tee….same thing happened to its other flag shop franchise Mass Effect when they released Andrometer

They lost the plot not actually focusing on good writting/characters/story telling

Kind of like what is happening to Disney atm

It's more that EA took over and the people who made Bioware what it was were leaving or have pretty much all left by now.

Yea, in fairness you're probably right

they did the same to Westwood and the Command and Conquer franchises

DA:O was a fantastic game and had some decent DLC

Unfortunately i didnt rate any of the other games in the franchise

  • Hot Take - i actually liked DA:2 more than Origins.

    • Correct take

I like all the games - though they each have their pros and cons, they're 100% worth it for this price.

Anyone advocating for others to not play a game (for purely subjective reasons) is probably fighting some weird culture war of the terminally online, and isn't worth listening to.

Agreed, I liked all games for different reasons. Yeah they weren't consistent going from game to game, but they were all fun in their own way.

Announcement trailer for Veilguard aside, the gameplay video looks like it builds off of Inquisition so I imagine it will be in the same ballpark.

    • Yea agree - massive Origins fan, spent a lot of hours on it and modded it to the wazoo, didn’t play 2 and jumped back into Inquisition. Both games were great fun.

    • Random question but did you play on PC or Xbox?
Apparently i hear they feel very different, with PC top down sort of like Age of Empires, while xbox is more third person view. IMO third person view just feels so good.

    • I liked DA2 when I finally played it (after the demo put me off), but tried to replay it again like a year back and holy hell it's rough. The tiny city which most of it takes place in is mostly just non-sensical dead end streets with some random thing to pick up at the end, which you get an auto quest from to deliver to somebody somewhere in the city, with one line of voice acting. You can definitely feel how rushed it is from the time pressure EA put on them, while the other two feel more like complete games.

There probably are a bunch of crazies fighting culture wars, but it's fair to say that Origins is in a class of its own which the others didn't live up to. I still enjoyed them, but they are a bit disappointing relatively.

Just noting this is also on GamePass for those that have it (both on xbox and pc).

DRM free version on gog https://www.gog.com/en/game/dragon_age_origins

Apparently like the steam version, you might need to update it though. Check the reviews.

  • let me guess, new DA is just around the corner? Well I hope so, wish it will be just as good as BG3

  • Just a fyi, This made me want to play dao again but it doesnt work well with 4k and windows 11 and multi core processors….. Sooo theres a number of frustrating hours just to get the hame up and running
