  • How’s the sound on these TCL? Need a soundbar?

Notice the latest generation TVs are going back to a speaker bar at the bottom….

Speakers in your actual TV..what a revelation ey!

I’ve got a TCL 75’ C727 since 07/22. Paid $1.276 and after almost 2 years the TV still going strong.
A couple of things worth mention:
    - Google TV is good, however it might be the crap processor, or low memory that the Google TV App just crash. It doesn’t happen all the time but it does to the point that can annoy you. The solution is having an external TV box and you’re good to go.
    - Wi-Fi - don’t know if it’s the Google TV or the Wifi radio on the TV, but sometimes you turn the TV on and it doesn’t connect to the wifi. It could the my neighbours running their wifi on the same wifi channel as mine too. I tried changing wifi channels and so on, sometimes it works. The only solution is turn the Tv off/on again.
    - Sports like Footy, Soccer, UFC may lag using apps such as Kayo, probably due to the processor/memory again, but it does happen.
    - Sound - the sound is surprisingly good, not a sound bar good, but I approve it, however, not long ago I installed a Sonos surround (arc, play 1, sub) and don’t use TV speakers anymore.
    - 4K - I’m not a cinephile, and for me yeah it looks great, movies and series are fine.

All in all it’s a good brand (at least for me) with decent quality for the price. The Google TV annoys me some time, but I use it with a MiBox and its fine, you just have to put up with two different remotes (21st century problems).

I think that’s my take on TCL and if I did not have a Hisense 65 on my theatre I would definitely buy this one.

    I hope that helps !!!

How do you rate the TCL vs the Hisense?

      • +1

My Hisense is the Hisense 65" Series 7 4K Ultra HD (65M7000UWG) and I’ve got it in 2017 for $1595.
Well the Smart Functions of this TV are pretty basic, YouTube, Netflix etc (no Google TV), colours are OK, build quality is good!
One annoying thing is that I also have a Sonos System connected to that TV via optical cable, and sometimes it doesn’t send the signal to the bar, therefore I don’t have TV sound, to solve I have to do the old off/on again.
Also connected a MiBox to this TV and it’s been good.
It’s been running fine for 7 years.

It’s hard to rate the two TVs because they’re different, but if I was to just go TCL vs Hisense.

I would say Hisense has a superior build quality, image wise they’re similar (4K of them are good, not OLED good but good), TCL sound better, because it’s newer, it has Dolby Atmos.

They both have flaws and if you can live with it then you’re off to a good start. I think the main issue is buying an entry level TV with basic panel and functionalities, but expecting high end quality.

In my case I wanted a big screen where I could watch sports, YouTube, movies etc, and didn’t want to break the bank.

  • My TCL (P725) just died a few days ago. It's only 2 and a half years old. My previous TCL died just past the 3 year warranty. Good cheap TV's but lacking in quality. I'd recommend getting an extended warranty if you're going to purchase one.

TCL have 3 year warranty so they will likely replace it for you .

  • I've been using Kogan with tcl panels without any issues

I've had this TV for a few weeks and would not recommend it. It's incredibly laggy compared to my previous Hisense tv.

    • I'm guessing it would be fine with a Chromecast with Google TV.

  • 2nd best choice to buy it
1st best one is to avoid Gerry

  • Can this TV output 4k 120hz? Spec sheet is confusing. States 60hz but can do 120HZ on 'game mode' and features a HDMI 2.1 port which is usually used for 4K 120hz.

Given the price point for this TV I assume it does 1080P 120HZ and 4K 60HZ?

"*When switching to 120Hz Game Accelerator mode, an increase in frame rate may result in a decrease in resolution. "

  • JB won't price match as it's not available for shipping until next month.

Also price has dropped to $779
