  • Interesting! Most of the other fuel majors tied into external programs:

    BP = QFF
    711 = Velocity
    Coles branded Shell = FlyBuys
    EG and Ampol = Everyday Rewards

    • Coles branded Shell = FlyBuys

      Shell Reddy Express accepts Flybuys too.

      EG and Ampol = Everyday Rewards

      All Ampol service stations (including EG Ampol) in Tasmania are currently excluded from the Everyday Rewards program.

  • So sign up and spend $25 on fuel and get $15 off.. not bad!

    But going forward I’ll prefer the other programs which all (ultimately) funnel into either Velocity or QFF, whereas Caltex points are stranded and can only be spent on fuel.

      If my understanding is correct, you cannot earn nor redeem Caltex Rewards points in conjunction with any fuel discount offers (e.g. the RACQ 4c/L fuel discount offer), which somewhat lessens the appeal of Caltex Rewards in my view.

        Huge draw back if you live in QLD and have a RACQ card. Guess the trick would be to just keep accumulating points until you have enough for a free tank of fuel, then use them all up in one go?

    • You won't get $15 off, you'll get $10 off and you'll have 250 points left over. You will then need to buy 250L of non premium fuel to get your next $10 discount.

      They only give $10 discount in 500 point increments.

  • I thought all Caltex were switching to Ampol?

      Yeh same.

      Caltex has rebranded to Ampol in Australia. The rebranding process began after Chevron, the owner of the Caltex trademark, terminated the license agreement for the use of the Caltex brand in Australia, effective from June 30, 2020. Caltex Australia proposed to rebrand itself back to Ampol, a move approved by shareholders in May 2020. The transition was completed by December 31, 2022, with Ampol rebranding its service stations and corporate identity across the country[1][2][3][4].

      They have as part of their divorce (Caltex brand licensing not renewed) from Chevron and they completed the switch by 2022.

      Chevron Australia has since acquired Puma Energy prior to the Ampol licensing divorce and is gradually rebranding Puma to Caltex (with Techron).

      Chevron also recently acquired a number of Shell Coles Express outlets in SA (and has also rebranded them as Caltex (with Techron) as part of the recent Viva Energy acquisition of OTR in SA to satisfy the ACCC requirements.

    • This promo is Puma fuels rebranding to Caltex.I bought fuel from them today and my internet banking app says "PUMA ENERGY"

  • Works out to be 2c a litre saving after the promo.
    1 point per litre, 500 points = $10.

  • Crap rewards they got.. I still prefer flybuys but I know that won’t last long who knows

    • FlyBuys are still accepted at the rebranded Shell Reddy Express outlets.

      I would assume the Shell Coles Express outlets getting rebranded OTR will take them, and the original OTR outlets in SA will eventually take Flybuys and Coles Dockets when their outside branding and IT systems gets linked to Viva (Shell) / Flybuys network.

  • With ULP around $2 as average price they think someone like me is going to spend $1,000 (500L) on their fuel just to eventually earn a once off $10 1% discount ?

    They accept no supermarket or partner discounts, so they are straight away 8c per litre dearer than every Shell/EG Ampol outlet (in VIC where i live and buy petrol so dont @ me with the encylopedia brittanica of state based variations pls)

    I'll grab that $10 discount after signing up and spending $25 once and they'll never see me ever again.
