        This is great. Thanks.

I like most Apple gear, but 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD is a hard pass for me, been there, done that. 16GB RAM should be a minimum IMO.

    • +1

Have you used this device (or similar with Apple silicon) with those specs?

      • +3

I purchased this exact device, and found it very laggy/slow when I had a few apps (programs) opened, as soon as I moved to 16GB of RAM, no issues.
From my personal experience, those who keep saying 8GB is enough are full of it. I found 8GB to 16GB a VERY different experience.

So as I'm sitting here typing this on my daily driver 8gb 2017 Macbook and say I have no problems, I'm lying?

          OK champ

@GrueHunter: Why do you fanatics always assume other peoples use case conforms to yours?

Who cares if it works for you. Nobody.

@Cmatthew: Cos their preferences matter more than the collective.

Doesn’t that go both ways? For many 8gb is fine, but all the negative votes/comments make it sound like the device is an unusable POS which is clearly untrue.

@Randolph Duke: No, that's just you getting offended at anyone daring to suggest your beloved Apple makes poor value for money products.

Swallow your pride and move on, champ. You already confirmed you're rather tech-illiterate.

      Hard agree.

  • 82 people upvoted this 'deal'? LMAO

    • +2

They also downvote comments in hordes if you dare to suggest it's not good value for money. This is what Apple people are like.

There are bargains and them there are bargains, but this isn't either! Apple laptops might be good but they are expensive.

Can you post a similar spec laptop that’s cheaper and runs MacOS natively without hacking it?

People up vote all sorts of products that may not be the cheapest in the category, but have other attributes that still means it good value for money.

          xD

You just don't get it, do you champ?

The whole reason the Apple fanbase gets compared to some crazy religion is because you pay such a high premium to use MacOS.

Functionally Windows and even Linux for the most part can do just about everything MacOS can do, but your kind refuse to even look at another operating system. It's like anything not made by Apple is completely and utterly beyond your scope of understanding.

            “Your kind” 😂

            That must be it.

    • People still write lmao? ROFL

  • Is the storage speed of the M2 air being much slower then the M1an issue for people? Trying to determine if the M3 is worth the difference.

I was considering a Tab S9 + or ultra tablet but for similar investment I think the MBA makes more sense especially for resale. Obvious plus and minuses for both options but unless you really need what a tablet does then a small cheap mac is worth considering as an alternative.

As a person who has used Macs and PCs for almost a decade and a half (for work & personal), I am cringing hard at so many of the uninformed comments.

You're not forced to buy one and not the other. You can own both and they have their well deserved place in the market today.

If you believe that one platform is better value, its probably just better suited to your needs. It doesnt mean its better fit for everybody.

If you're entrenched in your position, do yourself a favour and read up on why people prefer and pick the other option.

At the end of the day, these computers are tools. Picking the best tool for each job, will help you accomplish your goal with the least amount of frustration. If you're so stubborn and ignorant that you're automatically excluding entire ecosystems, then you will be the one losing.

Admittedly, 8GB of RAM is fine for many people, and the same goes for a 128GB SSD. However, whether it's worth $1300 is up to the individual. For me 16GB is the absolute minimum, as I had tried the 8GB, it did not cut it for me..

    • Finally, a sensible comment.

  • Disappointed this has only reached 3 pages of ranting , cmon OzB , you can do better than this.

  • Any discount on JB hi Fi gift cards?
Otherwise I think will wait for Woolies / Coles gift cards with 10% points and buy it from the education store.
