      Are they renting DeLoreans now?

Mainly Hyundais last time I used them.

The comment the OP made was:

"There’s never been a better time to rent with East Coast Car Rentals!"

        • I'm shocked, jv - you of all people calling out hyperbole.

    • Well, of course we can't possibly offer 25% off all year round, that would be silly. And as for Covid… let's not go there.
But what we can do, is offer 15% off for EOFY!
      You're welcome :)

Misleading marketing mumbo jumbo in the description as mentioned above by jv. This isn't a website for free advertising, it's meant to be a community website for sharing bargains.

    • +4

Can be said of a lot of "deals" on here tbh.

Hi WatchNerd, while we appreciate your response, this is not free advertising but in fact our legitimate 15% off End of Financial Year Sale. Thank you

ECC had great price when I rented early this year (Feb 2024, Cairns). When I returned the car, the inspector was not happy with a 2mmx2mm paint damage on the arch of the front fender; their supplied photo showed something, but there was not enough detail to confirm the damage was pre existing.

To their credit, they did not charge me when I pointed out the damage was likely pre existing as it appeared in the photo. Though If I rent with them again, I'd rather take their excess insurance, or at least take plenty of very detailed photos knowing they will charge for stone chip damage. I can still recommend ECC but just FYI

    • This sounds pedantic.

I’ve rented from predominantly large players (Hertz, Avis/Budget) and a few smaller players (Bargain Car Rental, Apex) and no one has ever looked at a car too thoroughly upon return - it’s usually a quick walk around looking for obvious damage then checking it in. Pretty much all of these have had the excess left as the default ($4-5k) as well. This includes a time someone reversed into the parked car at a decent speed as well, with quite a bit of paint missing…

Just be careful and take a lot of photos and/or videos before leaving - remember to photograph tge spare tyre, windscreen and interior as well.

    • confirm the damage was pre existing.

I always take photos of existing damage, and a video all around the car prior, so I can zoom and check later if there was something I missed.

Had a negative experience with them recently. A scratch that i can't be sure wasn't there prior (i did take some photos, but unfortunately not as well as i should have). The end result was over $1000 damage. It's amazing all the different ways they managed to add so many extras on top of the parts and labor to get to that figure. I had insurance, but has left me questioning whether i'd use them again. I can't be sure if the same sort of thing happens with the big players or not.

Can't fault the company otherwise though.

        Why didn't you look ?

    • Hi YRT,
Pleased to know things worked out in the end.
For reference, we do offer an All-Inclusive 10% Off Package, that lumps car rental, premium damage waiver (meaning zero excess), premium roadside assistance, tyre and windscreen coverage, and zero security bond - all at 10% off! :)

Been using ECC for a few times in Gold Coast
while their price are cheaper than major competitors
their car can be "much older" too

My last trip to Gold Coast rented a Kia Carnival
the KM was over 130,000 and lots of minor scratches and damage
after driving on the first trip from ECC back to hotel
the car was complaining engine overheating (around 50mins drive)

After few calls with ECC and being asked to call RACQ to have a look
at the end need to have the call towing back and exchanged another one
ECC refunded my first day rental fee but has wasted the half day just to exchange for another car

    • Will you use them again?

      • depends on price, if their price + insurance is still cheaper than major competitors probably will still use them

If you book with them (or any hire car place to be fair), do a full 360° 4k video of the car. Slow and steady as you walk around.

When we collected our Corolla for a two week hire the guy was pushy as hell to get us to sign the existing damage waiver. Kept saying "it will be fine" "don't worry we have marked all existing damage" (they hadn't), the rims were apparently "great condition" and they hadn't listed even 1/3 of the scratches and scuffs on the bumpers.

They tried to argue damage when we returned the vehicle, but showed them the video and told them to drop the accusation. Never got charged.

Price is more expensive with coupon code.

Getting same prices as a week ago when there was no discount. Misleading sale.

    • Hi Plal,
We've been running our EOFY sale on our website for most of June now. Ta!

  • Is there a deposit you need to pay upon picking up the car?
