You might want to look at Desiccant Dehumidifiers if using them in cold temperatures.

Agreed. Just picked up the Ausclimate model from Bunnings.
Very highly rated on Choice and its doing a great job pulling moisture out.

      • I've got the same… They are great….

They were almost $100 cheaper last year.

      • From Bunnings in Sydney? I tried yesterday, had no luck. Ended up getting the ION630.

        • Picked it up maybe 3 weeks ago.

A few stores had stock at that time - maybe everyone else has jumped on mold issues

I literally bought this 4 days ago (it was Sunday, so yes, I am using the term literally correctly)
We are in a cold / wet climate and this has been amazing, running for about 4 hours a day / night in our rooms and we remove about 4L of water each night no far (it will probably take a while to get all the moisture we have had for years out)
The rooms feel 'lighter' if that term works.
Realising we had less of a 'cold' house problem and more of a 'damp' house problem.

    • Desiccant Dehumidifiers

Is this a different type? I thought they all the same - small "aircon" like all-in-one devices.

        Is this a different type?

Yes, they work differently and work much better for colder weather…

Refrigerant/compressor dehumidifiers work better in warmer weather not colder weather and use less electricity compared to Desiccant.
Desiccant dehumidifers work in both warm and cold weather but as they also blow warm air back into the room/house, are suited to winter. But they consume more electricity.

  • We have one, it’s a little bit quieter than a fan and light weight, works well.
