I missed out last time as I still wasn't sure which dashcam to get. This time it's slightly more however it includes the hardwire kit (HK4) which is needed if you want to use the parking mode feature.

Note: Must pay in AUD for the coupon code to activate.

The Mega Sale gives you 34% off their RRP so the price becomes US$261.24 (~A$411). The discount code then takes another A$60 off. Plus tax I ended up paying A$394.74.

There's a great write up by @brosk1s here on this product

I might be wrong but the HK4 on its own doesn't come with fuse taps, so keep in mind to buy some of those if required.

    • Yep, they sell the taps too but you can also get cheapos including extra fuse off ebay. But those are definitely shit quality and hard to jam in but… they work. You also have to know which tap size you need.

      • Yup exactly, very easy to find out, you'll just need to measure your current fuses and compare them with micro, mini dimensions such as what you see here:
        https://www.grdian.com/resources/how-to-identify-your-vehicl…

Get the official Viofo ones though, they'll be the best quality and they aren't very much more expensive

    • noob question
how to we know what we need, ATS, mini or micro?

      • very easy to find out, you'll just need to measure your current fuses and compare them with micro, mini dimensions such as what you see here:
        https://www.grdian.com/resources/how-to-identify-your-vehicl…

      • Actually not that easy to find out. It depends on the car but also on the circuit you want to run the camera from. My VW Group car uses 3 different sizes. I went with the minis as I have Identified fuses for:
        - A circuit that is on when car is parked ( parking mode moder)
        - A circuit that goes on when you turn on the ignition (dribe mode trigger for camera)

For me I think one was for day lights and the other one was an empty fuse slot that was always on so I plugged it there.

      • Having to use different fuse sizes is a euro car thing - almost all Asian cars will only need one type of fuse size.

Either way, finding the fuse sizes should be very easy, just get a multimeter and circuit checker to find your ACC and Constant before you buy them - you can also try find the info online. But, avoid buying cheap fuses from eBay/Aliexpress - the fuse’s current rating will most likely be wrong, and therefore it won’t be doing its job.

As an installer myself, I supply all the materials required for the install, which includes the fuse taps, fuses etc.

    • You're right, I think several people confirmed it in the previous thread. However if you are planning to get it installed by someone else, they usually supply the fuse taps. At least it was the case for me when I got it installed by someone from Airtasker.

  • Anyone else getting "For security reasons your request can't currently be processed" when trying to use promo code?

    • Out of stock now

      • I've noticed stock drip fed, no doubt it'll be back

        • Don't think that'll be the case. Anyway I managed to grab one last night from them and will return this from AliExpress lmao
