Credit Card Used for Someone Else Kayo Subscription

Does anyone know how I can stop my credit card being charged for someone else Kayo subscription. This person must have somehow got my details.

I've tried:
1) Ordering a new card but as it's a subscription the payment keeps going through
2) Contacting my bank but they said I need to check with Kayo
3) Asked Kayo but they said this
Thank you for getting back to us. We understand that you wish to cancel the subscription, however, we will not be able to due to our privacy policy, please note that we can only make changes to the account specially cancellation if it is requested and verified by the account holder

Only option I see how is just cancelling my credit card altogether. Is this my only option or is there something else so that I don't have to cancel my credit card

Issue a chargeback, your bank will suddenly start caring.

    • Done it 3 times they just approve it and close the case lol

      • do you get your money back?

      • So 3 cashbacks for the last 3 months? Or is this spread out over a period? Was it the same card number each time?

        • It's a weird cycle

@rocky7st: Could be 3 different accounts.

  • 1) Ordering a new card

A replacement card or a whole new account?

This person must have somehow got my details.

If you don't know them then cancel the card FFS.

    • Replacement card. It's only been this transaction that they seem to have used it on

      • That will achieve nothing. Cancel your card now and get a new one issued. You are being defrauded.

@rocky7st: Surprised the bank didn't do this when you told them an unknown person is using your card details.

Who did you speak to at the bank? Must have been someone new or just didn’t get what was going on. This is fraud. Your bank can get this money back.

Cancel your credit card urgently. Who knows what else they’ll use it for. Ring them first thing tomorrow morning and block your card in the app ASAP.

Huge chunks of this story are missing, OP.

Yeah what bank is this? I wouldn’t want to take a credit card from a bank that can’t fix obvious fraud.

    • It's AMEX

      • With AMEX, when you go to order a replacement card, they give you a list of reasons to pick from.

From memory, if you choose Lost or Damaged, they issue a new card with the same number but a new CVC.
But if you choose stolen they issue you a new card number.

Which one did you choose and did you actually get a new number the first time around?

        • From memory, if you choose Lost or Damaged, they issue a new card with the same number but a new CVC.

I've lost an Amex before and had a new card number issued. The 4th digit from the end tells you how many times it was issued e.g. 3 means it was issued three times.

Someone has your credit card details but is only using it to scam you for a Kayo monthly subscription? Rather than buying game consoles, TV's, whatever, that's their focus?

    I don't understand how:
    1. You haven't notified the bank to change your credit card entirely so they can't access it any more.
    2. Why the scammer isn't really scamming you and taking advantage of it.

Seems like a lot of information is missing here.

  • I have never heard of a card being replaced with the same numbers after reporting fraudulent transactions. I smell a BS post from the OP.

  • This is usually done with Visa Account Updater or Mastercard Automatic Billing Updater, but it's not supposed to be enabled when a card is replaced due to being stolen/the details being used fraudulently. Might need to ask your card issuer to disable this function if possible.
