Should be a good price for a powerful ARM-based laptop if you don't want to wait for the price to drop. Note: there're 2 specs available, choose the 83EDCTO1WWAU1 (lower) spec and configure the RAM and storage (32GB RAM & 1TB SSD) gives you a slightly better price than directly buying the higher spec.

OP means to select the lower model first, and then manually select to ask Lenovo to provide 32GB RAM, which is often the cheaper way to order higher specced laptops from Lenovo.

How's the performance of the latest Snapdragon on Windows? Hearing mixed reports ranging from "It's worst than an Intel from 8 years ago" to "It's faster than the M3 Apple Chips".
That former comment only applies to outdated Snapdragon chips on Windows e.g. SQ3, 8cx.
Snapdragon X Elite (and Plus) are as performant as M3 Pro with slightly worse efficiency (battery life near parity).

Another review says that x86 emulation is hit and miss, especially with games and apps running slow or not working.
That's fair, it's not quite there yet. I think Windows is banking on this to finally catch up to Apple so I would expect more native ARM compatibility and emulation improvements in the coming few years.
@JTayzer: Getting a negative for posting a genuine review of the issues with Snapdragon laptops. Plenty of reviews out there stating similar issues like this one which tested Lenovo and HP for 3hrs in a Livestream.

The video is also not listed on the channel as it's not an official review (he said the reviews will be coming in the next two weeks). Rocky launch doesn't immediately equal bad product, as we saw with Intel ARC they had plenty of performance to give after the drivers were fixed.
@JTayzer: Yes but first impressions matter. It's fine for someone that wants to take time to tweak their computers but not for someone who wants a similar experience to Apple, which is how these products were marketed.
If you look at Arc, they have a similar issue with creating a bad first impression.Look up their dGpu sales, as well as the MSI Claw's sales numbers compared to the initial sales of the ROG Ally. The Claw, with ARC, had initial bad press which turned people away from it.

Well it depends on use cases - they're completely different classes of laptop.
If you need portability and battery life Snapdragon is a no brainer.
If you need CUDA/want to game then the Pro 7i offers superior hardware acceleration and performance.

No worries, the Snapdragon can game - just don't expect stellar performance. Definitely can't run native resolution - 30FPS 1080p low across AAA titles (Cyberpunk, Baldur's Gate 3 etc). 60FPS med-high older games such as GTAV.
@JTayzer: Not really looking to game, but do Photoshop/Lightroom work and use some AI plugins like Topaz Photo AI. Getting a new laptop for work so tossing up between these two currently. The portability of the Slim 7X is worth considering.
@theoracle30: If you're really considering the Slim 7x I would wait for a sale - Lenovo never stays at RRP for that long, I can see this nearing $2000 by year's end.
@theoracle30: I would think for work use you would want something with proven compatibility, and an Nvidia GPU means you can run any flavour of AI including your own offline models. An ARM laptop shouldn't even be a consideration.

Totally different laptops and use cases.. considering the Discrete Graphics is more targeted at games than a light and thin carry around.

This is thin, but still ~1mm thicker than alternatives which do have a 3.5mm jack.
I am guessing all mid/high end laptops will now be copilot + PC… shame for people who don't want or trust Copilot.

Dave2D's vid shows it's within 10-20% of a 8845HS Blender and Premiere pro render with emulation.
Matthew Moniz video says that there is an up 50% drop performance in some applications and lots of games not working well via emulation. Even DaVinci running natively had some issues and was not good at 4k.

Pretty much. According to Just Josh, emulation performance isn't up to the standard the M1 mac was on release. It will get better, but even then, windows still has no answer to the m3 pro and m3 max.

If I were to compare the Microsoft Surface Pro 11th Edition (Snapdragon X Elite, 16GB, 512GB) $2699 to this Lenovo model, which one would you choose and why?
Although the Lenovo offers 1TB storage and extra RAM, the Surface Pro's tablet form factor is convenient for note-taking and other tasks.
Without checking in detail, I expect this is soldered ram, so no manual upgrades.
