    Wow, that is expensive…

    I think I paid about $15 for my King C. Gillette…

    • +1

      You haven't seen expensive yet

      Check out the Tedalus V1

      • At least the stand is included.

        • +1

You're paying $243 extra just for the stand…

          • +1

@jv: I'll bet it still gives you a gravel rash when used downstairs….

      • 😲

        How much for the blades?

        • +2

Looks like $27.65 on Amazon for a 50pk, but going for a few bucks cheaper at shops like The Beard Club for $24 inc shipping.

        • +1

About $15-$25 for 100. Recommendation is to get a mixed pack so you can find the brand you like because they vary a lot for identical sharp bits of metal.
This razor isnt good value, value is $8 on AliExpress.
But these "classic" design blades are excelent value. The whole reason the market moved to overhyped multiblades is that there is no money in selling 10 cent blades which last a few shaves each.

Ouch.. I guess you’re paying for Swiss real estate rental and Swiss award wages.

        • +5

For that price I expect it to be able to cut through the fabric of space and time

      • +2

I mean for that price, it should be titanium not steel.

edit: and it should have some sort of magical hovering stand system, via magnets. None of this pleb physically align and push onto stand nonsense

    • +1

I got the King too, it's good.

    • +1

Yep been using this for 2 years now without any issues

      • +1

What is there to go wrong!?

        • +2

There shouldn't be anything to go wrong over time, but it is a device used for cutting. If the angles and tolerances and other shit ain't right at the start, you could be in for a world of hurt.

And no, you don't have to spend this much, but at the same time you can't just slap some metal together and think it's just going to work.

I love feather's blades but $170 for a razor is just silly.

You can get a Merkur for 1/3rd of the price and they handle superb, or even a Futur if you want to shave the skin off your face.

I quite like these "fleece the hobbyist with too much money" products. Audiophiles will always be number one in my heart, but it's nice that there's others.

    Tell 'em they're dreamin'.

    Buy 3 and save 10%!!!

      One for each hand !!!

  • Anyone know how this compares to Henson? Or whether there is a big difference between entry level and higher end razors?
    https://hensonshaving.com/collections/henson-razors

I've been using a Merkur for years, but I'd still get the occasional nick and cut.

    • +1

If you're getting the occasional nick, I recommend getting a Schick double edge safety (pretty cheap)…once your preferred blade is in, they give the slightest malleable bend to it so it's a better shave (for me anyway). The head also had a gloss sheen so it slides off the face. I've only ever had a nick from my own stupidity and rushing it.

Upon closer inspection, it seems it's been rebranded to "Wilkinson Sword Classic Safety Razor The Edger" or the "Wilkinson Long Handle Butterfly Sword Premium Classic Safety Razor" — bit long-winded LOL Highly Recommended.

  • That marketing is so pretentious.

Don't buy cheap razor gear, but I've found Edwin Jagger and Merkur to make quality wares at reasonable prices.

  • Why isn’t it heated?

  • Pretty good price for the D2 version with the base. I do like my original version, shaves well. Slightly more aggressive would be nice, which as far as I know the second version did. But yeah, wasn't going to spend that much money again ha.

  • This is the third safety razor I tried (Muhle and Executive Shaving), and it is by far the best. Pair it with the Feathers blades for a very close, comfortable shave. It's such a good deal, that I've just ordered a spare!!
