I hope this means an updated version is coming soon. SoC is pretty old now.

    • -2

      The G85 is already out.

      • Where?

        • +4

My mistake. Just fake reviews and leaks.

  • +26

    Is this phone any good?

Sent from my Motorola Moto G84

    • +2

Hard to say, they become a Galaxy S24 upon arrival

    • I have the edge 30 neo which is very similar and I love the thing, I mean physically love it, after the pile of trash oppo I had before it
For this price it's a half brainer

the camera app may be limited in this like mine, so you may need to get another

      • I have the edge 30 neo as well and it's been an excellent phone. The only issue is that the usb port is has become unreliable. I'm guessing it's just physical damage.

      • Install gcam

    • +3

I just gave money to Gerry Harvey for one. ($299 +$50 giftcard), annoyed I didn't wait for this one.

Upgraded from the Pixel4a, gotta say it feels a lot better but getting used to a big phone again is a struggle. Battery life out of the box seems fantastic. Fingerprint reader is better than I expected, still wish it was on the back.

Screen is great, I heard thats the biggest upgrade over the g54, it is easy to see in bright sunlight, and gets nicely dim at night. SD card and headphone jack are bonus.

    • You tell me.

Every product available for sale at Mobileciti.com.au is 100% Australian stock and is fully certified for sale in the Australian retail market. We only supply products with Australian local warranties.

      https://www.mobileciti.com.au/australian-stock

But they do sell Steam Decks.

      • It’s true, I saw their warehouse when I went to pick something up. all Australian stock

        • +4

I won't say its entirely 100% true. I bought Sony's WH-XM5's from their last sale for $366. Couple of days back it got delivered and it came out to be an overseas stock. It was from India showing their price and distributor's address too. Messaged them that why didn't they mentioned its an overseas stock, no explanation from them. Anyways today returning it.

          • +1

@Be Happy: My Bose QC SE carton bought from Harvey Norman came from Singapore distribution too. Doesn’t mean it’s not Australian Stock…

            • -4

@I Smell Pennies: I'd have no issue with that stock too mate especially bought from a physical store HN but coming from overseas and where there is a big grey market and also buying from a digital store, its hard to put trust on. You've to send it to the store if there is any issues and by paying shipping charges. Where you can go to any HN store id you've any issues.
Anyways I'm happy to return it. Might get a good deal in future 🤷‍♂️

              • +1

@Be Happy: Mobileciti has a phyical warehouse in Sydney. But fair enough, hope you get a similar deal in the future.

                • +1

@I Smell Pennies: I understand but when the product shows the price of a different country then I think its from the grey market and they must have bought very cheap from there. Obviously its not an Australian stock with different price on it. Dont know if it authentic Sony's or not. I've bought few stuff from them earlier and had no issue with it.

              • +1

@Be Happy: Negging it for specifically praising HN, the Known enemy of OzB Site and all of their members. If you don't know what this is about, do some research like all true OzBargainers

          • -1

@Be Happy: Well… What was their cost price?

    • My Sony's WH-XM5's were imported from India 🤷‍♂️

  • How can it not have macro lens?

    • +23

When they are designing the phone, they look at where they would include a macro lens, and look at how much they are charging for the phone, and then decide they don't need to install one.

      • trade offs to make a price point, i personally use macro more than wide angle , but can’t see myself buying a pro phone so that i get 3 cameras.

    • The ultrawide camera is auto focus and should double as a macro.

    In case you miss out,

    It's $270.82 with code PLUSF22.

    • +1

Sydney mobiles and MobileCiti are same but trading as different stores. So stock levels will be the same.

      • I think they'll have 56 specifically for this sale and save the rest.

    • +1

Thanks got this one after trying repeatedly on the other offer - voucher code kept saying it couldn't be applied even after it appeared on the eBay listing. Eventually stock ran out. Ah well, still a good price, looking forward to decent battery life. My current phone struggles to get through a day of light use.

  • Red or blue? Which one is better? :)

    • +10

      Red is faster

      • +1

        Faster drop on concrete

    • Red has nice textured back

    • +1

It represent a choice between remaining in a state of blissful ignorance (blue) or accepting a painful reality (red)

  • +4

Insanely good phone, especially for $250

  • I just bought it for 245,very good deal for the phone

    • Where from?

      • +1

Sorry, like not now but 3 weeks back when shopback had 20% cb on lenovo+10% additional when u pay with Westpac, the price was discounted to 349 at that time. Hoping to get the cashback confirmed soon but this deal is much better as you get the discount right away

  • +1

Is there any pragmatic reason to snag this deal when you already have a primary flagship daily phone?

    • +28

No, but pragmatism is not part of a purchasing decision on Ozbargain.

    • +1

because when your flagship phone is lost or broken it’s hard to get a good deal and you pay what you can get on the day, i keep spare phone in car with 365 day sim for emergencies, if i loose my main phone or it’s broken i have backup and can make a few calls and get a sim with my old number.

    • Is there any pragmatic reason to snag this deal when you already have a primary flagship daily phone?

Emergency spare. I have one in the drawer for emergencies, and take it travelling because replacing a broken/lost/stolen phone mid-holiday is not fun.

    • It has features your flagship phone probably does not:
      * 12GB RAM
      * SD Card
      * 3.5mm headphone jack

The main downsides will be the slowish CPU if you want t play games, and the cameras probably aren't flagship level.

  • When will jb price match it, need to use my gift cards

    • Need to use a code to get this price, so they won't (plus it's limited quantity). I doubt they match eBay anyway.

  • Does OW beat these deals ?

    • they don’t match ebay, just shopfront prices , so what the mobilecitit web site sells at.

  • Damn. I just bought it at $285 last week……

    • me too

but i'm happy enough at that price

    • same shit different day

  • wow, so tempting now to replace my old LG Q6

  • Won't let me use the code. Disappointed.

    Edit - oh wait, 😂. It's not 10am yet!

  • +1

Not sure why they couldn't put eSim feather which G54 got

    • is it dual physical sims and sd card has its own tray?

      • its hybrid sim tray.

      • +2

No, the micro SD and SIM 2 share a slot… so it’s one or the other.

But 256 GB looks like plenty of space.

But yes, shame there isn’t eSIM.

  • +1

I wish they had Blue Marshmallow version

  • +1

My auntie in her 70s needs a new phone as the old one is stuck on Android 9, no more updates.

Main concern isn't features, it's how many years of Android updates and security patches the phone would receive. And price of course, but since this is ozbargain, I think that's implied haha

Would that be a good purchase? Or any recommendations sub $500?

    Thanks all!

    • +1

Motorola doesn't have a good track record for updates. These are released on 13, will get 14, probably not 15. Probably a couple years of security updates left, its a 2023 phone, so may end in 2026 or so.

    • the G50 Edge is $599 rrp and newer (2024) and better, Mobilecititi when they did 25% off Ebay dropped to $475 , depends if you can wait for next offer …..

  • +2

Here are the new Motorola G85 spec leak from GSM Arena. Coming out soonish, Aug? Is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 3 (4 nm) CPU Octa-core (2x2.3 GHz & 6x2.0 GHz)
GPU Adreno worth the wait over the G84? https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=13144&idPhone…

    • +3

probably not worth it for a normal usage phone only. It wouldn't be lower than the current price of G84.

  • This is a great burner phone. I get about a week of standby time.

    • +2

That's a very expensive burner phone.

      • +1

yeah $250 is expensive. $150 for G54 is a better deal as a backup phone.

  • Got one. I'm going to use this as a backup for my Sony 10V which apparently will stop working when the Telstrqa 3G network shuts down. grrr.

    • +1

It will only stop working on Telstra, that Sony phone will work fine on Optus or Vodafone.

      • Yeah I know, but I've recently done a boost mobile 365 day prepay plan so I want to be able to use that.

Plus I'm not really enjoying the Sony 10V. Mine has fairly extreme bugs to do with screen locking and unlocking.

It either doesn't fully unlock when you unlock it - so what you click on doesn't react or isn't whats actually being shown on the home screen.

Or it randomly unlocks on its own in your pocket and butt dials people.

So the two extremes of the same problem. Fairly fundamental to using the damn thing and happens maybe 20% of the time.

I like the design and battery life, but never again.

  • Buy now research later

    (successfully got the blue)

  • Sweet, got one.

  • Past 10am and still not letting me use the code… hmm

    • Try again it took me a few tries adding it back into cart.

      • Thanks. Red is now out of stock :( ugh.

        • Red is available.

  • This or Samsung Galaxy S10 (current phone)??

    • +1

By the time you research it will be out of stock

      • +1

11 hours and 11 minutes later… Ive just purchased this.

    • I think this phone will have better battery, Ram and screen quality. Camera and processor on S10 i will say is better than this phone.

    • I just upgraded from a Galaxy s8 to the G84 and don't regret it.

However the from the Galaxy s10, it would be more of a side grade

      https://nanoreview.net/en/phone-compare/samsung-galaxy-s10-v…

So no, i'd stick with the s10 another 2-3 years or buy something much better for a real upgrade

  • +1

    68 sold in 10 minutes

  • Will OW price match this?

  • @shxhshzhz, I'm curious where did you get the 28 of each colour available from? they've sold over 150 by now

    • +2

It was based off how many eBay allowed to add to cart before saying seller doesn't have any more. It was mainly put there to stop mods unpublishing the post for showing "limited quantity". I've removed it now.
