A broth made from the bones of my enemies

    • +65

      You may vote "other"

      • +2

        Thank you for your suggestion

    • +6

That would be Ramen, assuming your enemies are pigs and/or chickens.

      • +3

        Thank you for your suggestion

    • so a cockroach soup?

      • +2

        Thank you for your suggestion

        • You’re welcome. Can you let the ozb community know how it goes?

      • +58

Are you pho real? Just re laksa.

    • +13

Actually there are a lot more pointless posts here. At least it is sane and harmless..

      • +5

        We'll soon fix that:

Soup is a Acromin for Supermicrosoft-OVaccine-Uptake-Program. Bill gates himself said so if you sheeple just wake up. Fauchi used chemtrails to make my wife leave and my kids not talk to me anymore.

        • +1

Love it. Giving a whole new meaning to the Soup Nazi.

    • +8

I'm sorry a poll about soup has affected you so much.

      • +6

Seems to have been quite the broth er

    • +1

Are you kidding? This is better than 80% of previous polls.

    • +1

I love this poll because I love soup!!!

    • See above for the most pointless comment of 2024

  • +1

    lobster bisque

    • Yep, need to add this list the poll.

      • I'd get the mushroom barley tbh

  • +7

    Jambalaya!

    • I think Gumbo is closer to a soup.

  • Don't make me choose. Probably potato though. Pumpkin is good too, with cream in it. Chicken ranks up there as well.

  • +3

a soup, i would consider a standalone dish,

most of your Asian options are not the meal without the filling. no-one is going to order just a pho soup (liquid) on it's own
have you had real Asian soup, like your classic Pork, lotus root, peanut and chicken feet soup, or korean ginseng chicken soup or filipino sinigang soup, Thai to yum soup, vietnamese tamarind soup, chinese hot and sour soup, cantonese pickled mustard, pork tripe and black pepper soup

    western soups are boring

    • +3

you may choose a filling of your choice if you vote for an option like pho

      or just vote other

  • +4

    Bird Nest

    • Better sell your Nestle shares. The nears are chasing them.

    • Not to yuck somebody else’s yum… but I just cannot… like I’m sure it’s maybe yum… but yea..

      • +2

the birds nest itself doesn't have a flavour, usually cooked/ stewed with other ingredients that form the flavour,

sweet dish: flavour of the rock sugar and dates and berries used.
savoury dish: chicken stock or pork stock flavour.

its the the thought of what it actually is that is Eww..

much like shark fin soup… you could omit it and wouldn't change the flavour of the dish.

texture however is a different thing altogether

        • +1

shark fin - you could omit it and wouldn't change the flavour of the dish.

Agreed - i've only had the real deal a few times in my life, the rest is usually the way cheaper 'mock' version and idk..its fine lol

      • Not a fan of flying being? Then would you fancy some heart, liver and kidney soup?

        • +1
          • pickled mustard and pork tripe soup.
          • black chicken duck giblet soup.
          • pig lung and pork bone soup.
  • Maybe some links.

  • Hot Ham Water

    • +1

    @Savas mum's Avgolemono soup…

    Nothing tastes better than that.

    • +2

      Nothing tastes better than that.

      Not @Savas' mum's spanakopita?

      • +2

We are talking about soups here, not pies…

        • +3

Nothing No other soup tastes better than that.

          FTFY.

          • +2

@CrispyChrispy: You need to read it within the context of the topic.

    • +3

Lol my mum literally makes that all the time !!

    • +1

i have to say this does look interesting, a nice malty beer would be delightful

    • Bat soup

And die from Lyssavirus or Hendra virus

  • Love tomato soup, hate the indigestion though.

    • -4

      hate the indigestion though.

      Don't add MSG….

      • What are you on about? Why is it so hard to believe that tomatoes - a highly acidic food - what cause indigestion on its own? Why would someone add MSG to tomato soup when it's already such an umami rich food?

        • -3

Added MSG gives me indigestion and headaches.

          • +1

@jv: ok, ever considered your experience isn't universal? what an odd thing to say

            • -2

              your experience isn't universal?

              Most things aren't

      Tom Kha Gai.

    • +2

      Another vote for Tom Yum

      • Dang, I thought I had put Tom Yum on the list tbh, oops

        • Make a new post and include tom yum this time. The data in this poll is clearly incorrect anyway as pumpkin is leading.

  • Shark fin soup but don't really have it these days for ethical reasons.

  • +2

    Free Soup

      • I didn't see that option and voted for my second favourite instead, and seems I can't retract my vote.

I usually peel the veggies and cut them smaller. I’ve also thrown in a few different veggies like parsnip and cauliflower. I think it would work well for leftover veggies in the mix.

  • Squid and peanut

Soup is a winter dish imo.

Can’t think of anything worse to eat in summer when I'm sitting in ball soup.

    • +1
      • +1

        Yeah, nah…
        Doesn’t change my opinion.

The only cold liquids i want in summer are water and beer.

        • +1

          Sangria with frozen fruit
          Moscato.

    • Mul Naengmyeon exists for summer.

    • Soups are actually great for summer since they hydrate you very well!

      • I find water usually does the trick 🤷🏽‍♂️

        • +1

          Lacks electrolytes

          • @s1Lence: I guess i could settle for a cold bowl of gatorade soup

            • @El cheepo: What makes gatorade more suitable for summer than soup? Soup is top tier for any season.

              • @s1Lence:

                electrolytes

                🤷🏽‍♂️

                • @El cheepo: Soup destroys gatorade in every metric

                  • @s1Lence: Not sure it beats gatorade in the sports drink metric.

At what point does soup just become juice?
In which case… i love juice.

                    • @El cheepo: It does. Soup is a better sports drink than gatorade.

                      • @s1Lence:

Soup is a better sports drink than gatorade.

                        Gonna need to see examples

                          • @s1Lence: Taken from the first sentence

There is nothing better than a piping hot bowl of soup to warm you up on a cold winter's day.

Lets circle back to this disagreement 😂
Soup is for winter - despite any possible benefits of hydration.

Im confident the majority of people if given a choice between gatorade or soup to hydrate after sweating it out on a hot day
                            would take the gatorade.

But i must say, i admire your commitment to try changing my mind.

                            • @El cheepo: The two aren't mutually exclusive, you can be #1 in both winter and summer (which it is). Soup has been around for as long as humans have existed and for good reason. Gatorade and other sports drinks will come and go, soup is eternal.

                              • @s1Lence:

can be #1 in both winter and summer

                                It can be.

Just like people can eat Haggis and enjoy it.

But its not a universal opinion.

                                • @El cheepo: The statement that it hydrates you very effectively is a fact, not an opinion.

                                  • @s1Lence: But the fact that the topic of discusion is

                                    “What's Your Favourite Soup?”

Not, “does soup hydrate better than water or gatorade?”
Still leaves me with the strong opinion that soup is in fact a winter dish.

                                    • @El cheepo: No, the thing we were discussing is what you commented: "Soup is a winter dish imo".

                                      • @s1Lence: And indeed, i believe it is.

                                        • @El cheepo: And indeed, soups are actually great for summer since they hydrate you very well!

                                          • @s1Lence:

soups are actually great for those who think soup is a year round dish and thus have it in summer since they hydrate them very well!

                                            Fixed it for you.

Edit: Do we have too much free time?

                                            • @El cheepo: No. We argue like a married couple who spend too much time together, though.
