What are you wanting to use it for?
I have one of these at home, its a great simple mixer that's easy to use and easy to fix if something goes wrong. Have had it for 7 years now and still works great.
It's great for making cakes/batters etc… It's not good enough to make dough but neither is any other mixer in the same style. Best for dough is a spiral mixer.
My 10-year Aldi one carked, so I'm looking to replace it. We mainly used it for mixing fairly heavy dough and shredding chicken. Thanks for the heads up about the spiral mixer!
I make dough in my KA. It works but you would make dough in bulk as you can feel the motor heat up. I would keep the speed to 2-3.
Totally. I mix sourdough in my KA - I initially mix at speed 1 so the dry ingredients don't splash out, then when I move on to kneading, I go speed 4 for about 3-4min, let it rest for 5-10min, then another 3-4min at speed 4.
Previously I had to mix for much longer at speed 2-3 to get the dough to window pane.
A friend of mine returned his 4-something-litre KA as to him it's getting unacceptably hot while working pizza dough. As in, it felt as if the motor was about to burn.
