Origin Go Variable - Electricity and Gas. Benefit Period Expiring, What Are People Doing Now?

This thread is mostly for people who signed up to this deal 12 months ago:

I know it was only offered for a couple of weeks, but many people here took advantage of it.

My benefit period is expiring and I am getting letters regarding new rates, etc. Wondering if there is a similar Friends and family plan this year or if there is another good plan to consider? I'd love to know what people are doing.

For now, I'm sitting and waiting, but will be checking out comparison sites when my new bills get in.

  • Yes, check out comparison sites and new energy deals. Also, clicking on the same deal you linked lets you resign up for another 12 months, if the rates on that site are still competitive.

    • I regularly checked comparisons, nothing shows they beat what i'm currently paying for gas. there are some slightly cheaper electric plans if i switch monthly, but I'd prefer to keep paying quarterly if the price is similar.

  • +1

Comparing rates before July 1 is pointless since you wouldnt know what the rates are for other energy suppliers until they release them. You may know the rate Origin is putting you on but not others.

  • Most of our electricity prices and natural gas prices, and solar feed-in tariffs in NSW are changing on 1 July 2024.

  • OP, you can't just re-sign with that link for another 12 months?

Also, clicking that link in original link gives me better rate than i already have with origin. With everyone saying rates chaing 1st July, does that mean the rates on that link will also change even if i sign up now or will they remain for 12 months?

    • They'll change as it is a variable rate plan.
