Options for Purchasing New Hyundai i30 Hatch N

Previous VW Golf owners, but unfortunately no new manual Golf's are available in Australia. Looking to purchase a new manual Hyundai i30 Hatch N in Melbourne for my wife (yes she only wants a manual car).

We've been to the Hyundai dealer, but I was wondering if there are other purchasing options such as a car broker? Also was wondering if there was a site like camelcamelcamel that could help us track/find the best price?

Has been a long time since we've bought a new car, so please let us know any suggestions you may have.

All advice very much appreciated.

    What the current wait?

Sorry. I can't help with your actual question.

    • Isn’t the i30 production moving to Czech Republic?

      • Pretty sure the i30N hatch is already produced there prior to the move for the rest of the i30 hatch range

  • Outright purchase without a trade? There won't be many dealers with your preferred colour so you'll just have to phone around. Brokers have to get paid for their time.

Try MotorScout. They saved me 11% on the cost of my last vehicle. Really easy to deal with, no hidden fees or upselling.

    • 11% of what transaction value?

When I enquired awhile ago, i30 Ns were in huge demand and very, very hard to buy. Huge waitlist.

  • A car broker won't be able to magically get around supply issues.

What's the demand for the car you want? Is there a wait-list?

I would steer well clear of the second hand market on the n series of cars. I thought about it, but then every one I see is getting absolutely flogged by a mid 20s guy so you can imagine these cars aren't making it past 150k km.

This. A broker works in the same market as a consumer. They MIGHT be able to get a better deal because they buy more, but reality is dealers wont give them much more discount than theyd give a regular consumer that bargains hard.

  • John Hughes in Perth had a grey manual with a sunroof when I checked early last week.

  • In 2010 I needed a car in a hurry. As in that day. I only had $16,000 cash so that was somewhat limiting my choices.

Looked at a few I wanted, didn't have them in stock though and still a few weeks minimum away. Ended up with Hyundai Getz as they were only dealer anywhere on coast who would have one by tomorrow.

Only problem was, two were loaded on truck, no one knew which one would be offloaded - whichever it was, I had to have it. Choice was egg yolk yellow or black.

Thank god I got the black one.

Moral to the story : I think a lot of cars are still on back order. You may have to wait until the one you want turns up or decide on a different car that is available now.

  • Supply is good… Hop in the i30N facebook groups - I saw EOFY deals from 54k driveaway
