If you want a Switch Pro Controller as cheap as currently available, you'd probably want to look at the standard version available at Big W for $84 ($75.6, if you use the 10% Everyday Extra code with it).

But for a genuine limited edition Pro Controller? You're looking at $189.95 at Gamesmen for the Splatoon 3 version, and $109.95 at the Nintendo Store for the TotK version.

Also available:

  • Tears of the Kingdom Edition Pro Controller $93.17
  • Super Mario Party + Joy-Con Controller Bundle $122.70
Going by the JP eShop listing, Super Mario Party should have English language options.

The attached code is for "Prime Savings Buy 2, save 10%":

  • Offer only applies to Prime members who purchase Qualifying Items in a single order.
  • This offer applies to Prime members only.
  • This is a limited time offer and will end at the earlier of 2024/06/22 23:59 or while stocks last.

If you get the two Pro Controllers and use that code, it brings them down to effectively $83.17 each.

  • I found these while looking for deals on the Switch Pro Controller, after wearing out the right trigger on my original model (brought back in March 2020), mainly from daily Splatoon 2 and then Splatoon 3.

Never developed the dreaded drift, but too lazy to think about refurbishing the controller. I believe the issue is with wear on the hinges, not the buttons themselves (so replacing the internal buttons with the Clicky Hair Trigger Kit won't do squat).

I've just unboxed the TotK version that I got back when it was $81.20, but thinking about storing the Splatoon 3 and second TotK one I just brought to be kept in mint condition.

Curiosity got the better of me so here's the first part I found on AliExpress: it's a complete shoulder/trigger button assembly for about ~$15. You might be able to find cheaper, or perhaps you only need a certain part.

      • Thanks. Might be worth a try at some point.

Amazon also has the standard pro controller for $84, save another $10 if you pick up from a locker

  • Is Splatoon still popular? For a while it seemed like it was going to be Nintendo’s next big IP. But it seems to have faded into almost obscurity.

    • +3

Splatoon 3 still has regular events and updates, and the online play is lively as ever.

    • +4

Splatoon 2 is at 13.5 million units, making it 16th of the Switch's best selling games, after 5+ years of sales.

Splatoon 3 is currently at 12 million units, making it currently 21st of the Switch's best selling games, after less than 2 years of sales.

      • So it certainly hasn’t turned into a smash hit IP rivalling Mario Kart, Smash Bros. etc. Bit of a fizzilier compared to the hype.

        • +2

Not sure what your definition of "fizzilier" is, but:

          • Splatoon 2 & 3 have each outsold 5 out of 9 mainline Mario Kart games.
          • Splatoon 2 has outsold 5 out of 6 Smash Bros games, and Splatoon 3 is well on course to do the same.

It might never reach the same peak as Mario Kart and Smash Bros on the Switch, but if that's the requirement to not be a fizzler, then >95% of gaming are in the same bucket with it.

BTW, you can say what you like about the series' success, but Nintendo themselves are obviously happy with how it's going, if they're still bothering to continue hosting it in tournaments alongside the giants that are Smash Bros and Mario Kart.

            @pj1351:

Splatoon 2 & 3 have each outsold 5 out of 9 mainline Mario Kart games.
Splatoon 2 has outsold 5 out of 6 Smash Bros games, and Splatoon 3 is well on course to do the same.

And those games were released on consoles with a much smaller install base.

            • +4

@PainToad: And those are lifetime sales, while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Smash Bros Ultimate has also been out for around 3 times longer than Splatoon 3.

That fact that you have to bring up two of the top three best selling games on the Switch just to downplay the success of Splatoon (as a relatively new franchise) already proves that your perspective is heavily skewed.
