From 1 August 2024, we will replace the Luxury Transfer Service for Citi Prestige primary cardholders with the Uber Premier $100 cashback benefit. Introducing Uber Premier $100 Cashback

• Download the Uber app. Then add your Citi Prestige Credit Card as a payment method.
• Book Uber Premier (or any other available ride options) for a trip within Australia via the Uber app and pay using your Citi Prestige Credit Card.
• Spend $100 or more in one transaction to receive $100 cashback to your Citi Prestige Credit Card Account.
• The cashback will usually be credited to your Citi Prestige Credit Card Account within eight weeks after completing your Uber ride.

Seems a bit annoying Spend $100 or more in one transaction to receive , what happens if you never go on ubers above this

Wonder if we can use this again if we have already use the Luxury transfer this year

  • anyone else considering getting a citi card but worried they are about to close up soon and so won't bother?

    • they are really stripping back the benefits, the concierge service is a joke at this point

      • What happened?

        • NAB happened

Was this on the statement or a stand alone email?

Also how bloody far do you have to be from the airport for it to cost $100. It’s only $46 to my house with Premier.

Edit - just realised it can be used on any Uber service. Still don’t know how I’d spend $100 in ADL

    • This was in a posted letter

I am the same , its 40$ from my house!

We might be able to do the ozbargain hack of purchasing 100$ uber voucher to get the cashback

Make the uber wait 20mins or however long it takes to make up the difference to $100…

"just loop around this roundabout a bit more… yep, like 5 times"

    • more like 50 times haha.

Hmm this could be good for mrs upcoming trip. Just need to wait till i get the letter

This is a big plus for Citi Prestige. Uber is much cheaper especially if you don't need to book a premium uber and just a regular uber car. Because the Airport transfer cost (they used Hughes) was 2-3x more than what Uber was.

  • Whups i have premier not prestige oh well

If you can't spend $100, you can add tip, it's charged in the same transaction.

    • I had some tips charged in same transactions and some in separate. To be on a safe side you almost need to tip on the spot.

    • Might be implied in your post, but did you do this and did you get the cashback?

Booking a ride soon but requires a 30 top up. Will be a hefty tip if it doesn’t work for me! Hah. So just being cautious and confirming. Cheers

  • FYI "Additionally, please be informed that you can still use this benefit even if you already utilized the Luxury Transfer benefit you have for this year"

    • So if we book a luxury transfer before August 1st for about $110 (with $10 out of pocket expense), then we'll be able do an uber ride after Aug 1st of $110 and get back $100 of that ?

      • You should have Luxury Transfer benefit currently with Prestige , so call up concierge ( good luck ) and you claim a free taxi up to 100$

After 1st August , you get the Uber voucher when you spend on an uber over 100$ you get it back on your card

        • So, even if you haven't already booked a luxury transfer, you can still book it and utilise it prior to 1 August and still get the Uber transfer benefit as well, you reckon?

@squarepants: Thats what their CITI Customer services said , so there will be an AFCA complaint for 100$ if it doesn't when I try ;)

  • Spend $100 or more in one transaction in Uber… may be tough for anyone in metro areas.

    • Yep I think I might try buying uber vouchers in the app see if that triggers it

      • Let us know if it works. Tia

OK its been purchased so I have to wait I think till my next statement to see if its been refunded "• The cashback will usually be credited to your Citi Prestige Credit Card Account within eight weeks after completing your Uber ride."

      • Did that work? Tia

        • +1

Havent tried , reached my credit limit so will try next week

How am I only finding out about this now. Zero communication from Citi is disappointing as I would’ve booked my benefit before this new shitter benefit came into effect.

    • Id complain to them if you didnt get notified , you might get $$

      • How can I even prove that I didn’t get the comms though

        • Its up to them to prove not ! I got a letter

    • I don’t know why some flogs are downvoting me. I literally had zero communication on this until I saw the offer in my app. The only emails I’ve received all year from Citi are my statements and Payall reminders.

      • As well as this I also missed the memo from them about the 4th night free changing. Did all my research on Expedia and emailed off for a quote only to be told it can now only be used on Luxury Escapes and here’s a promo code.

  • I live far west. Normal Uber $67. XL will bring it above $100.
    Have two trips coming up.
Will see if I can use this.

I tried the $100 uber gift card thing, purchasing in-app to see if I would get the cashback. It's been a week no luck yet. I doubt it's going to work, because the transactions are differentiated like; "UBER TRIP" vs "UBER CASH", in the same way it differentiates against "UBER EATS", etc. they would be pretty dumb if they didn't make the cashback exclusive to "UBER TRIP" transactions

And as a double whammy, now I have to use the gift card instead of making regular uber trips against my CC and getting the $10 cashback

If it eventually works I'll comment below, but don't hold your breath. Hope I saved someone some hassle

    • Thanks for being the one to test it out!

They seems to have removed the spend $40, get $10 back perk btw… Can't see it in the app

    • The hero we don't deserve. Keep us posted. Cheers.

  • I'm disliking this benefit vs the previous lux transfer. Almost impossible to hit 100 in one txn, even with airport rides using the premier options. Kinda stupid to add stops and prolong your trip + wasting time. I read the "tip" option to bring it over to $100 but that would be a BIG tip, plus not guaranteed to work according to some comments above (?).

    hmm.

  • Used the luxury transfer on 31 July.
Use the new uber credit in August. Got the $100 credited 3 days later, so i'm happy it hit the same bill cycle. Also got the existing $10 uber cashback for total of $110 cashback.

  • Anyone had any luck with tip counting towards the $100? Was just looking to book it for tomorrow when I realised it's $100 minimum, stupid.

    • The service + tip was combined into 1 charge. this was a couple of days ago, so I haven't gotten it back yet. I didn't get my $10 rebate though

      • Thanks mate :)
When did you add the tip?

        • I added a tip during the trip and one at the end right after I got my updated fare price.

The fare ended up being lower than initially charged so the trip+tip was less than < $100. So I added another tip

Note: the Add Tip at the end of the trip it to add another tip NOT edit the tip amount. Driver ended up with a $20 tip 🤪

EDIT: Got my $10 rebate for spending $40 this month

          • @ddddddddddd: So add tip during the trip and not after the trip?

            • +1

@cuy: I added a tip during and after the trip

        • +1

Got my $100 rebate today :)

Probably one of the worst cards from my personal experience.
