Worth $636 of supermarket gift cards minus the monthly fees. Sounds good…..

    • +3

      $626 I think? 133000 / 10210 ($50 GC) = 13.02. So $650 of gift cards, then minus $24 fee equals $626
      Apple GC's are currently 9180 for $50, so you could get 14.5 x $50 cards so ~$725!

      • +2

This assumes you complete your entire $3k spend within 30 days AND you get 130,000 NAB rewards before they charge you another $24 monthly fee.

Apple GC are very specific, Coles/woolworths are 20,410 per $100 which is what most people will convert to = $600 with 7,540 points leftover.

        • +6

With the qualifying $3k spend you will also get 3000-4500 pts, so adding that to the 7,540 leftover points will get you just enough for another $50 Colesworth gift card.

  • +1

Is NAB Qantas reward card different from this? Not relating to the 18 months waiting period restriction?

    • +1

"This offer isn’t available to existing customers who received NAB Rewards Bonus Points in the last 18 months for a new personal NAB Rewards credit card, or when closing or transferring from another NAB branded credit card account, or in conjunction with other NAB credit card offers."

      Seems you may be okay.

      • I'm new to churning cc's, do we have to wait 18 months from the date we closed our previous NAB cc? or is it 18 months from when we received the bonus points (not regular points from purchases)? I've had a NAB cc for almost 12 months, wondering if i close it, do i just have 6 months left?

        • 18 months from the date that closed the cc.

      • Wait, isn't it saying that you can't have NAB QANTAS within the last 18 month? Cause it is an NAB branded credit card?

    • Two different programs. You can do both at once if you wanted to (and pass the credit assessment of course).

  • -1

I am currently got a low rate card with them. Am I eligible for it ?

  • I recieved my NAB Rewards Signature ~8 weeks ago with significantly less points and annual fees. Any way to have them honor the current offer?

    • No.

      • +1

Actually mine is the Qantas, offer is unchanged. No FOMO.

  • I've never had a cred card can this be used for a mortgage repayment? That's the most expense I have

    • +2

Unfortunately not, at least not directly.. (as far as I know, and could be wrong)

We use the CC for daily expenses and put all spare cash to the offset account and repay the CC monthly.

  • +2

    $24 Monthly Fee

Banks are going too far… Wtf

    • Curious what you mean, could you elaborate?

      • +2

It used to be reduced $145 annual fee and I would hit up chat to get it refunded.

        • I've never tried that before. Would they refund you the whole amount or on a pro-rata basis?

          • +1

@spast1ka: I was refunded the whole amount

            • +2

@CodeXD: I think this is consumer friendly on the banks' part for once. I reckon 95% of people wouldn't think to negotiate an annual fee refund, and forget until they get slapped with the next year's fee (myself included lol).
Since this is charged on a monthly basis it would make people close their cards early once they hit the qualifying spend.

    • +2

rather a monthly fee than ask for an annual fee refund

      • +1

Agree. If you can get the bonus points within 1st or 2nd month then that much better than annual fee since banks likely not refund the pro-rated fee any more. Not saying that they won't but very hard to ask for refunds now a day - closed 4 cards in last 8 months or so, only got 1 refunded.

  • the previous deal was better, 120000 + 40000 points, but a yearly fee of "only" $145 the first year (compared to $24/mo)

    • +2

the previous deal you still had to spend $3000 within first 60 days. This one assuming you take the full 60 days to meet the spend you will probably pay $72 of fees.
This deal is 130000 + 50000. The bonus 50k is after keeping card for over 12 months, which I personally wouldn't do.

      • Oh you mean you think people just want to churn after getting the bonus after 60 days?

I meant, better deal if you keep the card 12 (or 13) months. I'm planning on keeping it months, I paid $145 for the first year

        • If you keep for longer than 12 months the second year is $295 AF.

    • +1

Plus you only get that 40,000 after paying the second year annual fee of $295

      • nope because you would have switched to monthly, so you pay only 24$ to get the remaining 40k points

        • +1

Are you on the older one? Is NAB forcing everyone who was on annual fee to convert to monthly fee when it ends?

          • @CodeXD: I just got the older one 2 weeks ago, hopefully they let us use the full paid year, but yeah after that it goes to monthly.

            • +1

@borgainerz: Monthly fee would be great if you could get the bonus 40k points and cancel after your first year, effectively $200 gift cards for a $24 fee.

              • +1

@spast1ka: I would still prefer to cancel and get the 130,000 points every 18 months

  • +1

OP can you add two more benefit (the best imo) in your description?

    • mobile phone insurance
    • fee-free international transaction
    • thanks will do!

    • What is the conversion rate? Do they add markup?

  • +1

Came here to post this offer but OP beat me to it. Brand new offer started today and saw it advertised on FB. Think I have found my next churn. This would rank in the top 3 offers on rwrds.com.au
Great offer for circa $600 of gift cards with potentially only 1-2 months account fee to pay.

  • +1

The limit on these cards are way too high. Those who has mortgage won't have a chance to get this kind of limit. My friend has mortgage and investment loan and got rejected for $500 limit which is ridiculously stupid.

I don't really understand how bank assessed risk when unemployed or student can get $1000 credit card limit / Zip / Afterpay or people can get approved for $2k iphone on postpaid plan but those who got 2 properties get rejected for $500 limit. These $1000 or less limit should be very likely no risk for bank for those are having mortgage.

    • The limit on these cards are way too high. Those who has mortgage won't have a chance to get this kind of limit.

      I have a mortgage and currently hold $23k citibank prestige, $6k kogan, $6k anz and $3k 28D.

My friend has mortgage and investment loan and got rejected for $500 limit which is ridiculously stupid.

Do they have a PAYG salary?

      • +1

They assessed based on your serviceability, it is auto-rejected by the system. If you have mortgage and investment loan at nearly maxed out of the bank assessed serviceability you won't even get $500 limit which is why I said is ridiculous.

Some bank even has stricter serviceability than others, but what is the higher risk of default on a $500 credit card? those who own 3 properties or student. That's why I said this make zero sense in risk assessment.

        • That is only if you have mortgage AND investment property AND have loans maxed out. That isn't the case for a lot of people.

          • -3

@CodeXD: Ever heard of mortgage prison? With the current high interest rate and bank use even higher rate to assess your serviceability that affects a lot of people

            • +2

@samehada: Your friend can sell the investment property? This is getting off-topic, they should see a financial adviser if they feel they are trapped in mortgage prison.

  • Thanks op. Got approved instantly.

    • any document needs to upload to nab?

  • +2

Woah, $5K spend to dodge the monthly fee! I thought CommBank was bad!

  • +1

Great deal and just today decided on this too after Coles Mastercard chipping away at all the benefits.

This ticks nearly every box (rewards, insurance and fee free international transactions).

The monthly fee being waived every month with the $5k spend is extra sweet.

If only 55 days interest free but seems all of them are going that way……..

  • Am I reading this right? If you use this card to buy prepaid gift card like a preloaded VISA it state in the TC that you will be charge a Cash advance fee??
    https://www.nab.com.au/personal/life-moments/manage-money/ma…

    • Just turn it off

  • Conditionally approved and then rejected..

    • Did they call you at all?

  • Received conditional approval yesterday, and I uploaded payslips and bank statement.

Received sms that they'll call me if more info is needed but didn't receive any calls.

    Was just approved.

  • Can I know what is "everyday purchase"? it's wws everyday or just daily expense? Thanks

    • Daily expense.

      • thanks

  • One question on Complimentary international travel insurance

How to understand "charge at least $500 of your prepaid travel costs to the accountholder’s card account before leaving Australia" ??? Thanks

    • Pay for prepaid travel costs such as the cost of your return overseas travel ticket, prepaid accommodation, cruise, travel or tour.

  • I had a Citi Prestige weeks ago, does that affect my eligibility?

    • +1

No, does not affect it at all.

      • Fantastic! Was unsure because of the whole Citi being bought by NAB

  • If I have a NAB Qantas CC, would I still be eligible for the bonus offer from this card?
I couldn’t find it anywhere, am pretty sure eligible, similar to the ANZ. Can someone confirm please?

  • I got the following offer from Flybuys and looks like it's the same credit card.

Do you think this is better or not?

"Collect up to 110,000 Flybuys points with a new NAB Rewards Platinum credit card1
That's worth up to $550 Flybuys Dollars. Make the most of your eligible everyday spend and unlock unlimited points potential with a NAB Rewards Platinum credit card. Plus, enjoy an ongoing annual fee of just $95"

    • +1

NAB rewards platinum is a different card to nab rewards Signature (this deal)

    • They are different cards with different features.

  • ok thanks I think I will go with the NAB Rewards Signature one

  • -1

I assume I can stack this rewards signature plus Qantas signature CC, but not rewards platinum plus rewards signature, correct?

  • +2

Just signed up- took about 6-8 minutes. Received an email 3 minutes later saying I’m accepted and new card in its way.
    Bloody fast turnaround!

  • I've just got conditionally approved. It took longer than 8 minutes….. lots of financial questions, I keep a log of my answers now to try to speed up each application.

I am already with NAB with a $0 transaction account that was created as an ex-Citibank customer, so that was good.

I got rejected last week for an Ebay deal with Zipmoney, Zipmoney rejected me a $400 item and gave me a credit check.

I cancelled Virgin Velocity card 2 weeks ago and tried to reapply a few days ago, seeming reports that you can re-apply. This was also declined, another ping.

So I hope this NAB one goes through, I still have AMEX Platinum charge card and ANZ Black - Need to keep the black for the insurance until I get back to Australia in August.

The "no international fees" is perfect for me, 6 weeks of travelling - every time I do anything involving money, I will be whipping out this card. Well, besides from "cash only" activities ;P

    • might want to watch out for the forex rates on the card too.

      • Forex rate is the visa rate, which is actually slightly better then mastercard. It's not NAB's own rate.

  • Anyone confirm if you can open in partners name? I have nab rewards cc now and she's an additional card holder so worried it won't work

  • -3

Not worth the time and hassle

I had to fill in their lengthy online application forms TWICE because their web app bugged the first time.

Submitted the documents TWICE and visited a branch to verify my identity. After that, I rung them up and was told I'm all done, and I should get a result within 48 hours.

    After 48 hours, nothing happened.

I just rung them up again, and they now say I didn't complete the identity verification and I need to visit the branch again. Why didn't you tell me last time when I called you? And this time they say the result will take 5 business days after the verification

Nothing towards the OP. Just NAB's application process is just terrible

    • +1

Any big bank, it's worth getting a transaction account with them first before you along for a CC. I did this with NAB, Westpac, St G, ANZ….

I've still got them, some are free so no hassles, some I move $2k around every month to avoid $5 fee, takes just 30 seconds.

  • Here is my timeline. I had given up because it was taking so long. Clearly manual processing was required by staff so perhaps we can blame work queues.

    15 June: Initial application completed
19 June: Email "NAB needs you to send some documents" - had to send docs to verify salary income
28 June: Email/SMS "We have approved your application"

  • I met the $3k spend on 27th June, paid it off on 28th June.

Just received my 130k points :)

    • +1

Good to know! Thanks! Was just about to post that question. Hit the 3k spend 1/7. So should receive points by the end of the week.

      • +1

Points were there at 6am this morning. Points spent, card cancelled. Woo!

        • what was your application process like (how long etc) and did you get the velocity bonus too?

    • Did you pay it off before the end of the first statement period? Would like to avoid entering the second month if possible to avoid fee, but I haven't gotten the bonus yet even though I've met minimum spend (haven't repaid yet though)

    • Is there a way to pay it off before receiving the first statement without having a transaction account?

I’d think bpay, but the details would be on the statement?

      • +1

        Yep you can bpay

Use BPAY® to make a payment
        Biller code: 1008
Customer reference number: your credit card number.

    • @CodeXD, do you know if you can cancel the card and then use NAB points (assuming there are other NAB non-reward accounts) or it's just safer to use points first and then cancel the card (points will gone during CC cancellation)?

      • I used all my points before I cancelled.

However, I just dug out the physical NAB letter I received for the closed account and it states:

As outlined in your NAB Rewards Terms and Conditions, you have up to 60 days from the date you make the request to close your account to redeem your NAB Rewards points by calling us. Points that remain unredeemed after that 60 day period will be forfeited.

        https://www.nab.com.au/content/dam/nabrwd/documents/terms-an…

        • Thanks. I think ANZ has similar conditions but someone here (who apparently works for ANZ) said that it's better to use them before cancellation. Their systems are weirdly connected so, CC cancellation will trigger rewards account cancellation. Yeah, probably it's better to play it safe and use them before cancelling CC..

    • I did $5k spend on Oct 2nd. Paid off on Oct 3rd. It's now Oct 8th and no bonus points yet. Monthly charge came and was reversed though. Will update on the day I get points.

      • +1

        Met spend Oct 2.

        Received points on Nov 1.

  • Does it have any cancellation fee or other implications if i get the bonus rewards points and then cancel the card?

  • -2

$3000 in two months might be hard, can i pay rent with it? or off one of citibanks cards? will it count?

    • $3000 in two months might be hard

Then this is not the card for you.

No credit card will let you pay off another credit card balance and earn points. There is balance transfer available when you apply but that is not available on all cards.

      • balance transfer won't earn any points , or meet the req for bonus points.

      • I know you can pay off zip (not exactly a credit card) but it didnt count in CW's account spend (for Yello) but did for St George.

Citi has the payall scheme running, so that wouldve been an easy 3k in a month.

  • Dumb question, how do you get approved for these when the minimum monthly limit is $15k? What kind of salary do you need to be earning?

$7k limit with CBA, no loans or mortgages and very low rent/weekly expenses yet was only conditionally approved for a platinum card and declined this offer?

    • My salary on paper for this one was only ~$70k. No mortgage or loans. $19k other cards. TBH, surprised I was approved.
