Can confirm OW price beat this deal. $329 at Kogan/Dick Smith and with price beat (-16.45) it comes down to $312.55

Best Noise cancelling on the market according to Sony. Fair warning: Reviews say some people have trouble with the ear tips and that they can hurt. I haven’t found this to be the case but you can always return if you have issues.

Hijacking the top comment for some refurb feedback. I bought a pair about a month ago, it turned out to be quite horrible. The case and the buds looked quite used. It was still paired under someone else's name. And battery life on the case was abysmal, roughly half of what it should be.

I've returned them and bought a new pair, night and day difference. Funny enough, the mids were quite suppressed on the refurb pair and I had to EQ the crap out of them, I was surprised to see the new one far more balanced out of the box (and yes I did update the refurb firmware, no change in sound).

I've bought over-ears XM4s refurb 2 or so years ago and haven't had any issues with them, so I guess ymmv.

      • Thanks, you've convinced me to pay $100 more for new, those are the issues I have right now with my Galaxy buds, so I don't need the same issues again.

  • Can anyone comment on the stability of these?
I have the xm4's and they're great but they drop out quite frequently…

    • My XM4s connection (to android) got better with software updates. I also found I had to prioritise stable connection in the app over higher quality sound. Didn't have many connection issues.

Their ear-stability is effectively zero. Even just walking around loosens them and they lose the seal / feel like they would fall out.The foam tips these use (as opposed to the silicone on Airpod Pro) is a terrible choice.

      Their bluetooth-stability is fine

Haha the opposite of my experience!
I use these for exercise and runs outside. Zero problems with them falling out.

  • Bought these when my Sennheiser TW3 went into warranty repair as one of the buds went pop. I dont rate them at all, the TW3 were better in every way sound, comfort, zero bugs or disconnect.

  • Buying rubber tips really help with comfort. Hated the original foam tips. Although XM5s are supposed to use a newer material, I can see people still finding them uncomfortable. Replaced XM4s foam tips with rubber and didn't have any issues.

    • Any recommendations? Or just generics

I meant silicone by the way - not rubber. Personally I upgraded from Sony WF-C500s, so I used those silicone tips. But any compatible silicone tip would do, I'm sure.

  • Not loud enough for those needf deafening sound.

  • These arent great for exercise.
When running you get a vibration from your feet hitting the ground.
Original tips caused the buds to fall out also.
    I replaced the tips with SpinFit CP100 for IEM - L -… https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B01EH0MKGU?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_s….
Im going to get the jabra active 8 next instead for exercise and keep the sonys for sedentry activities or commuting only.

    • I electrical tape my XM4s in when I deadlift. Can confirm this as a cheap lifehack.

How are these with travel - do they do a good job of cutting out plane + crying baby noise?

    • Plane noise yes, babies crying is reduced but if not listening to music you will still hear to a degree. Over ear headphones step it up a level but will still fail to totally silence a baby, God made their cry to be heard.

    • Crying baby noise penetrates thick concrete walls, nothing can block it out

  • Anyone else finding stability issues with these earbuds? I've previously picked Jabra Elite 7 pro over xm4 because they were more comfortable. xm4's foam tips hurt my ears when wearing for an extended period of time. Now choosing between Elite 10 and xm5. Would appreciate some feedback!
