I'm not sure if this is worth it vs 2 whopper jnrs and 2 chips for $8

Long weekend date night sorted. Cheers WN.

    • +4

      Can I be your date?

      • +8

        Mrs Muzeeb said no.

        • +1

Threesome?….I'll share my whopper with Mrs M.

          • +4

@alidli: She prefers Tacos, as I've discovered after our HJ date night.

            • +3

@Muzeeb: Did she spend the date just staring out the window at the Guzman y Gomez next to door to HJ?

  • +3

Idk hey whopper feels incomplete without cheese…still good price but

    • +17

OzB professionals bring their own cheese slices, winning.

      • +2

        Any bargain of cheese slicers?

        • +1

Do you mean a slicer or cheese slices?

        • +2

Savemore Supermarkets 1.2kg cheese slices ~$8.

          • @timtam-slam: Is that actual cheese or more of a "cheese like dairy imagined recreation of a classic American topping"

            • +1

@Telios: It's as cheesy as the HJ's "cheese". And it was 1.35kg but I can't edit that comment.

      • +2

        This is the way

    • I usually just ask to add cheese as an extra & I don't recall it ever being an issue.

    • +3

You should see some of the rep posts on here, shocking!!!

        • +7

So in other words part of your reason for neg voting is because I criticised your post but didn't neg.

          • +3

            @WatchNerd: Bingo.

          • -3

            @WatchNerd:

whoppers are $4 regularly via shake and win, hence my neg

no, i explained my reason for neg.

Would it help if i had made a separate reply for my neg reason and criticism of your hypocrisy?

            • +3

@cloudy: "Shake & Win" doesn't guarantee a $4 Whopper every time but you're free to vote how you like, I won't take it personally.

              • -2

@WatchNerd: The vote isn't personal, these burgers are crap value at $5.45 each.

And I don't think, gauranteeing you pay more makes this a good deal.

        • +3

$4 for one maybe, but I doubt see any shake and win whopper deals for 2 at this price or less.

          • @Trishool: How many do you eat at once???

            • +5

@cloudy: That's irrelevant, you're claiming this is a bad deal based on per unit price alone, but this deal is for 2 and shake + win is for a single burger only, two mutually exclusive deals, therefore your argument is a non sequitur.

              • -2

@Ham Dragon: no I'm saying this is a bad deal coz these burgers are not worth it, plus its frequently easily obtainable for less.

    • +3

As in you don’t like hungry jacks or there is better value for $10.90?

        • +5

This deal is guaranteed, you can claim it at any time via the app (and more than once), whereas relying on the random chance outcome of shake & win to potentially get a single burger at a lower price is not. Two totally separate situations, please stop pretending they are the same, it just looks silly.

          • -1

@Ham Dragon: Uhhhh the $5 ones I mentioned are generally in the Jacks App section of the regular menu bud.

            • @ASR-Briggs: "Generally" or right now? Because if not right now then that's irrelevant, bud.

              • -3

@Ham Dragon: Well bud, the menu rotates regularly. But at this point in time (since you are too lazy apparently to check yourself) you can get a small double cheeseburger MEAL for $5.90. So you can get 2 of these for pretty close to this garbage "deal". And before you want to argue semantics, OBJECTIVELY that option comes with more food. 7,136kJ vs 5500kJ. And if you want to argue food per dollar, it's 604.75kJ per dollar vs 504.6kJ per dollar.
Edit: you can also get a small chicken royale meal for $4.95 via the voucher https://www.frugalfeeds.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Hu… (they don't actually need a physical voucher, just show them at the register). That's 724.85kJ per dollar. Even better value.

                • +4

@ASR-Briggs: A double cheeseburger is not a whopper, nor is a chicken royale. Regardless of calorific content or cost per kj, they are not the same or even equivalent products, therefore your negative vote is invalid. Eg: can't neg a post about men's Nike shoes because women's Adidas are cheaper.

                  • -3

@Ham Dragon: So you demand every item on the menu be the same? Or we can't compare 2 different items and their value proposition? Because I would argue that that is the point of this site.

                    • +4

@ASR-Briggs: Perhaps you aren't clear on the voting guidelines. This is the cheapest price for 2 Whoppers at the present time. The fact that other items on the menu have a higher concentration of kilojoules or are cheaper is irrelevant, they are different products. You cannot downvote a deal for allegedly not being the cheapest when you aren't citing a cheaper option, less so if it's not the same item or variant. Not sure if I can be any clearer on that.

                      • -1

@Ham Dragon: You are quite correct in that my use of the neg was invalid. I was unaware of those guidelines. Doesn't make the deal any better

                        • +1

@ASR-Briggs: Mate you're allowed your own subjective opinion on the deal but clearly it's a minority one given the fact this is north of 60 upvotes, which is a very strong endorsement by the community. Seems a really specific deal to be invested in like you appear to be.

                          • -2

@Ham Dragon: I don't think it's very good. And there's plenty of people in the comments that agree. As you've pointed out, negs on this particular post are not valid. So it being +60 isn't really a true representation is it?

                            • +2

@ASR-Briggs: Your neg was invalid, but it got removed due to community sentiment (downvotes), as did the other one, despite "plenty of other people" agreeing, supposedly.

That's fine you don't like it, but the post has now hit the front page of the website. Most deals posted here don't get to 20 upvotes, let alone 66 (as at time of posting this comment), it's fair to say this post is a resounding success.

                            • @ASR-Briggs: Edit: 70 threshold achieved. LMAO at puerile downvoting.

  • +5

If you want the rebel whopper instead it's a bit of a pfaff to get it and often they say no.

  • +3

I still remmy the days when Whoppers were enough to fill you up… Those were the days

    • +6

And your shopping docket had a 2-4-1 Whopper deal on it that cost $2.55 (early 90s)

    • Maybe you just like to eat more now?

      • +4

I am a fat (profanity) tbf

    • Yeah used to go to "burger king" most days after school in NZ, Auckland/Manurewa. Location had a small arcade. Days were spent playing Tekken, time crisis or virtual fighter and getting 50c ice creams and drinks with refills. Best burger was the chicken sub. Food was definitely a grade higher in quality as well.

    • I also remember that, but my tummy was considerably smaller then, so possibly required less filling. :)

Shake and win Whoppers are $4 and includes vegan one too

  • You can get a $4 whopper vis the shake n win easily. Guaranteed if you have multiple accounts.

    • So you can get a $4 whopper and another whopper for less than $10.90?

      • -4

        Use a calculator

  • It use to describe the size of it
Whopper: excessively big. Larger than normal

Now it more describes the bs Fast Food companies try to sell us.
Whopper: If you describe a lie as a whopper, you mean that it is very far from the truth.

But HJs is far from the only ones.

    Big Mac:
Big: describes size as larger than normal

    But now :
Big: The size of the spin on the exaggerated size of it.

    And my favourite:
    Loose change items:
Originally described menu items that were $2 or less (As physical currency in AU changes from coins to notes at $5)

Définition: the coins that you have in your pocket or purse.

Where in fact the only believeable definition they could possibly be referring to is that it is loose change 'for them':

Définition 2: In the world of big business, £20m is little more than loose change.

Brace yourselves.. The Ensh*tification Storm is coming.. Wait till you hear what they've done to Netflix, Prime, and Uber in other countries already.

      Wow

    • -4

Pretty sure the burgers aren't shrinking (beyond the meat having more fat that cooks out, like all meat products these days), we're just all getting bigger.

The loose change menu having stuff for $8.95 is definitely taking the piss though.

Cant get 2x Vegan Whopper cheese burger for this offer price.

Wait until you find out what houses used to cost …

Back in the day I had a hJ’s 2 for 1 whopper voucher. When it came out I had 4 whoppers for the price of 1. Went back to work and ate 3 of them before giving the fourth one to a workmate who was looking at them with hungry eyes.

    • Wait…. you could eat 3 whoppers????
And back then you could have the burgers your way, minus this, plus that.

    • Joey Chestnut style ;).
This Aussie burgers 2 for 1 were pretty good, and huge too.

  • I haven't had a whopper in a while (a year or so), are they somewhat decently sized or have they taken the Maccas approach and reduced the size?

  • +1

    Hungry jacked up.
