  • no chance this can be powered by usb C right?

    • Not on thy dgpu. Technically on the iGPU, but you'd have to check if they designed it for that.

The new 240w PD spec would work, but that's not widely used yet (at all?)

    • +3

I have this laptop the version with RTX4050 and you can power it off USB up to 140w

      • Wow so they have the port for normal brick charger as well but we can power off via usb c if neede? Thats cool

        • Technically spec wise it can use more than the 140w under full load, so the stock charger is likely higher wattage

      • Does it do video out as well?

        • +1

video out by usb c is supported and the stock charger (not USB c) is 170w.

  • So all the LOQ series are running cool? No heating issue?

    • +1

Mines running cool no heating issues, temperature stays under 50 degrees after 1 hour of playing Overwatch 2

Pretty good for the money, and good that it's not the older 4GB VRAM 3050 too.

Is it worth to get this one for $400 extra:
      https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/lenovo-loq…

      • +2

Maybe, last time I compared 3050 and 4050, 4050 was 38% faster in 20+ games at 1080p, and in this case the 4050 costs 44% more money. Granted that was with a 4GB 3050, so the gap would be a bit smaller. Also depends if you value features like DLSS 3.

Thanks Jarrod. I'll get the AMD R7 one then!

    • O damn i thought all 3050 (and other models) will have the same amount of vram, i need to double check when buying via fb market then

      • +2

Yeah it's more than the VRAM too. The newer 6GB version also has more CUDA cores, the same as the 3050 Ti actually, but with more VRAM, so basically the 6GB 3050 will probably beat the 3050 Ti, despite the name different ~_~

      • At $2499 now and no sale there, still willing to drop down to $1499 ??? so they able to price match centercom?

        • +1

Well there is a difference though,
          the Centrecom one has:
          - 24 GB RAM
          - 512 SSD
          - AMD

          the Jbhifi one
          - 16 GB RAM
          - 1TB SSD
          - intel i7

I saw yesterday that Officeworks was selling the Jbhifi intel laptop for $1597 but they changed the price to $1897 today for some weird reason

This or the R7 equivalent? https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/lenovo-15-…

    Same specs otherwise.

    • Not worth the extra imo unless you really value single core performance

      • I do a bit of video editing, but I have to decide if it's worth the extra $200.

These days, $200 means a lot more to me than a few years ago.

      • Bought the R7. It jumped up in price but I asked them if they could match the discounted price.

Part of me thinks I should have bought the cheaper one and saved $200, but I'm very happy with this one. No buyer's remorse so far.

I guess I'll lay off the fast food for a few months.

For a non gamer am I likely to get a better deal than this in end of financial year or black Friday sales?

My needs are dozens of tabs open at a time, zooming and ripping and compressing movies with handbrake, and to last years (which is why upgradable to 32GB RAM is the one think I know to look for) and it will be used very little just on battery.

    • Honest question… is this not an EOFY thing? It's June, so I assume anything discounted now is EOFY.

      On to your question…
Browsing with many tabs - Good 16GB is appropriate.
Zooming - Good. 720p camera is fine. I personally wouldn't want people to see me too clearly.
Ripping and compressing movies - Maybe. Ripping and compressing are CPU-intensive. You'd be better off getting an i7 or Ryzen 7 for that.

      • Thanks.

Yes this is certainly EOFY… "other EOFY sales?"🤣

    2.4kg

    Oof

  • does anybody know if xbox game pass also comes with it?

  • How does this compare to this JB-Hifi deal which is also currently on:

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/asus-vivobook-15-6-full-h…

    • You arent comparing apples to apples here… will depend on your usecase

  • Wait a bit longer for RTX 50xx to come. Go for 4060, 4080 when they are on clearence.

  • I've been watching this LOQ for a while and thinking it would be a good gaming machine for my kids.
But while its still listed on OW site, and comes up in google as in stock, it seems to be sold out everywhere.
I've even tweaked the store location settings to other postcodes around the country to see if its anywhere and no luck yet.
