JB have the MSI MAG 32 OLED discounted again to same price a month back.
Please be aware the two variants of the monitor.

This is the MAG version which means it doesn't get

Why would someone buy this over the Dell?

    • +3

      Flat vs Curved mostly.

      • +4

        This basically

The Dell on paper is arguably the better monitor with Dolby Vision support etc. However for the size and aspect ratio that curve puts me off.
Although reviews say it's not that pronounced apparently. Problem is $1400 is a lot of cheese to take a punt

flat is a downside at this size not a plus.

        • -1

Must be why they don't make curved televisions anymore.. erm.

          • @reactor-au: Yeah cause people totally put tv's right in your face.

            • @Axelstrife: Yeah because TV's are small like monitors

              • @reactor-au: TV's are a different use case to monitors which is why curved TV's were useless and never caught on while monitors sit far closer to your face hence why curved is a lot better for those.

                • -1

@Axelstrife: So back to your original point, flst is NOT the downside at this size for 4k.
This isn't an ultrawide. While most 34" ultrawide monitors are curved to some degree, it's not the norm for 34" 4k. It's just not necessary and is definitely not better.

                  • -1

@reactor-au: Not a huge downside but it is a better viewing experience.

Agree to disagree on this i think, Curved was a must when i bought my 32" 4K monitor earlier this year for me.

                  • -1

@reactor-au: Are you arguing for the sake of arguing? Monitors are for SINGLE person. TVs are for a family.

        • Not for me. I detest curved monitors, but only because I use my monitors for doing design tasks and gaming. If I were just gaming, then I wouldn’t care about a curve.

  • 32in OLED are way overpriced right now, wait a couple of years, 32 in OLED will be the norm at half this price or more.

    Regarding firmware update

Also if you're willing to wait the Samsung version of this panel is available for pre-order at a much cheaper price

    • Does the Samsung version have 3 year burn in warranty?

I plan to use mine for productivity and gaming. So definitely need the burn in warranty.

      • Samsung are very vague about this, I spoke to their chat a few weeks backt about burn in and warranty etc. and could not get a straight answer about it. I'm similar to you that I game and do work etc. so I needed a bit more of an assurance re burn in and warranty.. So I ended up going for the Alienware 34" UW OLED from last month's deal with l as they have their 3 year warranty 👍

        • I agree that the burn-in warranty is extremely important for OLED monitors.

I’m closely following the Monitors Unboxed burn in review against real world usage. He has some early (minor) burn-in after only 3 months.

It’s nice to know you can get it replaced after 2.5 years if the burn-in becomes serious.

32" 4k UHD 240Hz QD-OLED monitors would be around $1200 by the end of the year. They were over $2000 just a few months ago.

    • They already are on proper sales, which is good to see.

Way too much competition to not be more price competitive, especially considering TV prices.

    • -1

The ones that were over $2000 are still over $2000. The only sub $2K was and still is the Alienware (by a mere $100) and that one is in the same category as this one, as it's missing USB-C PD and DP-ALT. So this is actually a good price. Considering the very limited offering, in terms of manufacturer variety, you will not see them for $1200 for a long time. On sale for $100-$200 less? Sure. For $1200? Dreaming.

      • Hilarious to speak so confidently when the Samsung G80SD (literally the same panel) is on sale RIGHT NOW for $1200.

        • Technically it's a pre-order

        • Hilarious you can't distinguish US $ from AU $. And it's still just a preorder, for $1,999 Australian.

@Alx75: It was $1200 aud from samsung edu. It's hilarious you didn't search it on ozb first…

            • @simontadaa: It's a hilarious price, I admit. But also limited customer base. EDU account + monitor trade in + first time app use. I couldn't get one, or anyone else in my family. And to be honest, I would rather pay $300 more for Alienware to avoid Tizien/Bixby/Alexa/TV Plus and other trash that's built in.

That said, my original argument that the ones that "were over $2000 just a few months ago" will NOT "be around $1200 by the end of the year." still stands. That would be almost %50 off within 6 months of the launch. Not happening.

  • The price of OLED is INSANE considering you can get a OLED TV @ 42" for the same price

  • How is the price $1649? Its $1759 for me.
