I’m after a 15.6” laptop with a decent screen, as fast as possible processor, numeric keypad, backlit keyboard, budget $400-$500. Doesnt need to be touchscreen, but is a bonus i don't mind.
I use multiple instances of processor intensive apps. No gaming or graphics. Previously I used an XPS 9550 with 2x16gb ram and 2tb ssd, screen was awesome, processor was fast, but you get used to that quickly so something faster would be good. It did seem to kick out a lot of heat, but didn’t seem to be an issue. I’ll be installing the ram and ssd from the old laptop, so don't mind what the new laptop comes with.
Will be using mains power 95% of the time, so don't mind how much power it uses to keep cool, and not concerned with battery life. Needs to be a laptop as I travel interstate regularly.
Would appreciate your thoughts on the below options, thank you.

Are you sure the RAM will go over? The old one likely had DDR4-2400, new one would be DDR4-3200 i- https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000…
Best check the storage too, although I assume it's m.2 nvme
Anyway, you don't need a GPU so the second one makes no sense, I'd go the first Dell. Depends where you're buying it from, refurb from Dell is a good way to get some warranty with it. You're probably going to be disappointed in the screen if you had the 4K one on your 9550 though.
