I find the milk frother on this decent compared to other auto units. Still never as good as hand done but it's easy.

    • Bambino plus has a really good auto milk frother, probably does a better job than most home baristas…. but it's not an auto machine (unfortunately?).

I think it's because in these models, there is a plastic impeller housed within the brewing group head that sits between the milk lines and the water supply. This part is designed so that liquids are separated from solids continually through a diffusion-inversion process that runs every 2-3 cycles or so.

Over time, waste collection system drains into the drip tray through suction that draws the slurry through a metal filter. This filter itself is only designed to withstand about 18 bars of pressure through the filter assembly.

Having worked at similar places in the past, I know for a fact that brewing temperatures regularly hit the 110-120 degree mark, especially during steam extraction using medium to coarse grain coffee grounds. The artificial induction used to offset the liquid chamber causes abnormal tamping and the consistency of the steam bubbles to fluctuate. This is just enough that over time, I have actually have no idea and talking out my backside… haha.

    • Wait. What? I'm holding off on buying as I bought into your expertise. Help!

      • Sorry I left my kelvin to kilopascal conversion reference guide at home, but will check when I get home tonight!

  • If all I wanted to make was espresso shots, would this be something I should be looking at or is there a cheaper option?

    • i'm working late

      • +1

        It is spelt latte.

    • There is a Philips 1200, but it's not that much cheaper than this 2200.

    • Not cheaper but if you spend a bit more you could get a Breville with grinder that will likely output better shots than this. Fully autos are pretty limited for espresso shot quality compared to a properly set up manual machine.

  • Can’t do a latte

  • If you like milk coffees, this one can only make cappuccinos which is half a glass full only.
Apart from that, decent machine and good deal.

    • you can change the milk levels to how much you want.

  • Should I wait for upsized cashback?

    • +1

Probably not, it could sell out at any point when it's Amazon and assuming I have the category right, it's already 7% cashback in kitchen and dining at Topcashback.

    Delonghi or this?

    • +1

What De'Longhi fully atto are you getting for $450?

      • +1

        De'Longhi Magnifica S ECAM12.122.B is under 500, at 496 now

    • +1

Great question my delonghi magnifica is showing problems only a year in. Fortunately has a 2yr warranty. Descaling is a pain takes 45m.

This has a ceramic grinder which is a plus.

I wonder how this phillips stacks up in comparison?

  • The S version is $78 more, whatever the difference is.

Looks like the same machine and same model number.

  • Expired, back to $528 matching HN.

Ensure that you don't purchase the $449 option as that's a new third party without prime shipping and no feedback.

    • Dang it

Should have jumped on it when I saw your post last night

  • I have the 1200 as well as the BE. I'm a bit torn with fully autos. maybe I'm not tinkering enough to get the right settings. I think I'd rather have a good pod machine+frother for on the run caffeine hit and a barista express for when I want to enjoy my coffee

  • has anyone got this and managed to make a decent coffee yet?
