Just curious what people actually do with these?
    • Do you work jobs which require quick dismantling?
    • Are you loosening bolts on public infrastructure?
    • Is this a fidget toy?

    • +5

Yes to 2 out of 3

I bought the larger cobra pliers and I use them for eeeeverything, what they're made for and anything else where you need extra grip/strength, such as tearing off a security cover that was left on a delivery of baby formula, or pulling out nails from wood. They're amazing.

      • +1

I use them to remove nails from baby formula.

    • Got the larger ones, use it for general pilers, but excellent for retic work. They are worth the extra $$ compared to bunnings stuff.

I use them about as often as my pocketknife, for a hundred random things.

A guy I work with has low finger strength and borrowed them a couple of times a day to operate the grindy privacy lock on the office toilet door, for a week or so until the latch got changed. I’ve used them to remove the end of a charging cable that broke off inside a phone, to straighten out a wonky sliding door track at my kids daycare, to undo knots in necklace chains, tighten a zip tie after it had already been trimmed, squeeze metal ferrules onto bootlaces, and once to pull a coin out of an Aldi trolley when the chain thing didn’t work

I love the fact you even have it with you at daycare.

I use small hand tools to fix household fittings, furniture, toys, bikes, small car items, etc. I used to carry a leatherman around but last year I switched to carrying these pliers, plus a Gerber EAB utility knife, and a tiny ratcheting screwdriver (https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B01CCITO7M/).

    • +5

I carry one around so I can round off any bolt I find. It goes well with my checkered flanno and beard

        my checkered flanno and beard

and what of the unfiltered White Ox rollies?
and suspicious tattoos that imply hard time in the lockup?

      • Check some reviews. These things actually work better than similarly sized adjustable spanners.

        • i can confirm. i dont use shifters anymore, these work heaps better assuming size suits.

    • i work in a fabrication factory, tins, sheets. sometimes i just need to pull out something stuck, and this gives me that teeth my hand cant have, too smooth.
to answer your question, its just like a 3D printer, once you have it first, then you will start find out more and more place to use it, and then, you will never ever go back.

ofc unless your job/most time spend is on a chair.

    • I accidentally bought this too thought they were big pliers for plumbing but they were tiny. But they have been very useful to loosen any bolts and it fits in your back pocket like a pocket knife

It's a good price, I bought a pair previously and they have stayed in the drawer ever since. They are so small, you're much better off buying a bigger pair that are more versatile.

  • +2

I have the 125's and wouldn't want to go much smaller but this is a good price so might be worth the risk for some.

  • +1

everyday carry pliers in your pocket?

  • +1 because it’s Knipex

But yeah 125 better as per above for an edc

  • I know it's not the same but if you're after hand tools in this space I recommend checking these out
