Always plenty of engaging forum discourse on traffic infringements, but riddle me this: why if the licence issuing bureaucracy in every state & territory by now has the email address of every licensed operator, do we NOT EVER receive correspondence in relation to road rules and regulations, additions, amendments, frequently misinterpreted rules, areas where compliance could be improved, anything? Or is this only a thing in my state? Discuss!

Code brown?
so the officers parked behind your car can kindly teach you about them in person
Because the government is not interested in having an informed citizenry? Because then people might start to question? Isn't it obvious?
that's right… I have never heard of a public school or university…..
Is this some kind of essay writing exercise? lol
Can't fleece the public if you keep changing the rules and don't tell them. Then when they do complain you can say it's their fault for not knowing the rules. Kinda reminds me of something…oh yeah.
"It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard.". ― Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." Or whatever the digital equivalent of that is.
Its relatively easy to find traffic laws though?
While thats relevant, enforcement is pretty much limited to speeding, red lights, seatbelts and phone use nowdays.
probably more emails, but can't be bothered looking.
In Qld we only get invoices for rego payments
But that would cut out half of what news.com.au published on their website about new road rules you didn’t know existed or American tourist shocked by Australian road rules etc
I agree that there needs to be more education and reminders of road rules. I dont agree that we should be getting more spam
Not in this lifetime.
What wpuld probably be a better solution is to test driver knowledge when licence is due fpr renewal. Theyve got the infrastructure for learners, just add everyone else to the knowledge test before you get your new photo taken.
Imagine driving there to get your licence renewed then losing it and taking an uber home. How embarrassing!
More spam from government telling me about things I already know or is irrelevant to me? No thanks!
So what did you get a fine for, OP?
Anyway, tried googling it? https://www.qld.gov.au/transport/safety/rules/road
I got done for all the things that changed without my knowledge.
But they do?
Anyway driving is a privilege not a right it's your responsibility to know the rules. If I hold a licence to drive I want to be advised if a rule or sanction changes.
I wish people would stop parroting this mantra, "a privilege not a right". It all changes once there's money involved. Once you pay, it becomes a right. You have a right to receive what you've paid for. What people forget is that they're not the only one paying. Everyone else in every vehicle you see on the road has also paid and have the same rights as you.
Paying isn't the sole source of deriving a right.
I could pay for a panda to be shipped to me from China, but it doesn't mean I have the right to do so.Weird analogy because you can’t buy pandas on temu yet.
I am also starting a movement, thanx for the inspiration
