    ATO payment?

    • +3

      $498.01 after 0.4% fee

    • +6

      nice try ATO

    • can anyone confirm if this can be used for ATO?

  • +2

Great timing. Just applied for a new card and need to meet a min spend.

    • So if your card requires $2k minimum spend, you just buy $2k worth of digital gift cards and bam you've met it? :)

      • +15

Yep. Will use these cards to pay my rego and other bills that may not count as as eligible spending if I used my CC directly.

        • +2

Sweet. Will do the same, just got my new HSBC card and need to spend $4k.

        • Is there any easy way to manage all these cards after purchase?

          • +5

            @tabboy: I just keep a spreadsheet.

          • +2

@tabboy: Tbh, one of the selling points of these cards (and why some of us convert prepaid Coles and Woolies cards into them) is because the TCN app holds all the cards, shows you balance and transaction history.

        • rego

It's a pain in QLD since they don't accept partial or multiple-card payments.

          • @vawiyoci: I've used these at my local post office in Brisbane the last couple of years and it's been fine.

            • @daanish: Interesting but makes sense that a physical retail store would be more flexible with a EFTPOS machine. Will keep that in mind next time.

        • Good strategy. Wish they have higher limit than $500. Which type is most flexible one? The Black visa? Thanks

        • What's the difference between all these gift cards? All I can see is just the design of them….

      • Worth checking below link to get more benefit via woolworths rewards https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/849171

    • I bought 5 X $10 cards to test it out on public transport. How does this deal compare to the woolies 3k quantas points deal per $500 gift card?

  • +1

Are these compatible with online wallets?

    • +2

As in Google, Apple or Samsung Wallet or PayPal?

      • +2

        Yep

        • +8

It is compatible with Apple Pay, Google Wallet and PayPal.

It is not compatible with Samsung Wallet.

  • +5

Use them to buy lottery online. Getting points for gambling haha. Im even thinking of starting a lotto syndicate at work.

  • How quickly do they send the GC? I order a 50 one, it came more or less instantly, but now I am waiting for my 500 one.

    • +1

To be canceled if not within 10 mins.

    • based on my past experience, you might need to call them to do verification cause of security issue which the second came next day

  • Anyone know if these count as a cash advance if put onto an AMEX?

    • Don’t think so

    • Nah. It's count as a purchase

    • Anyone know if I can get Amex reward for purchasing this?

  • +1

Fark I'm spewing; bought one as a test to see if I can use it as a translink paypass Bris Airport throwaway card (normally $30+ to tap off at the station).

  • These cards should work on Hellofresh payment yeah? I need another card for a $10 box of food delivered

  • +2

Works with the swappable gift cards from the previous card.gift deal
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/836222

    • Why would you want to do that?

      • +1

Free $10 that you can use anywhere

        • but why not just buy the swap card directly?

          • @Bdawg: You got a free 10$ gift card when u spent $150 so u get a free $10 giftcard that you can u se to buy this.

    • Just swapped my $250s (I bought with discounted mastercard) and free $10s to visa cards

    • Finally! I have been waiting for this day.

  • +1

Anyone try with discounted mastercards/vanilla visa

    • That's my plan, plan to visit Woolworths after work and get vanilla mastercard.

      • why you want this card instead of the vanilla one?

        • +1

          Easier to track balance

        • +4

can also add to a wallet, cheaper when converting back to bank account using square

    • I just purchased a $500 card using a Vanilla mastercard I bought this morning from Woolies. Got a confirmation email but still waiting for the gift card to be emailed. Not sure how long I should be waiting

      • I did same thing and almost instant in my case.

        • Weird. Might give them a call

        • Did you use your name for the purchase? Or the ‘A Gift For You’ in the name portion. Had my initial order cancelled because they couldn’t verify the purchase

    • Can confirm it works

  • Doesn't work on DEFT payment.
Coles Master Card did work on DEFT payment.

    • +2

That makes sense, because apparently the only type of Visa cards now accepted by DEFT are ones that support 3-D Secure.

The Visa cards in this deal do not support 3-D Secure.

    • +2

If you have the BPAY details for the DEFT payment you can use these visa cards through Sniip instead (for a small fee)

      • Yep I ended up doing that :(
but my biller doesn't accept this payment! So I used Sniip & Google Pay!
around $4 fee in $500 transaction

  • -3

I don't really understand why anyone would want these. So i use a CC to buy another CC to reach a limit. Any other reason? Paying the ATO would achieve the same thing? You will still pay a fee for using a digital CC to pay right?

    • +2

I think it's mostly to be able to take advantage of CC offers. For example, meeting a minimum spend amount in a short time to get bonus points; buying these cards means you get to spend that money later, when you're ready to.

In a similar vein, it would mean that the purchase is definitely counted for the purposes of accruing points (eg. sometimes you get fewer or no points when "spending" with the ATO).

    • +4

      ATO Charges -
      1.45% for American Express payments
      0.72% for Mastercard credit payments
      0.75% for Visa credit payments

This is a Visa debit card so fees is only 0.40% + CC points. ATO payments do not accrue any points for most cc

    • +1

adding onto @littleburrito's comment, spending $1000 on cards with an AMEX Velocity card gives 1250 Velocity points. The cost for $1000 in cards is 0.4% or $4. 1250 velocity points for $4, or 0.32 cents/point is a no-brainer. People sell them on here for about 1.3 or 1.4 cents/point, but just using them yourself is worth a lot more than 0.32 cents/point.

    • Aside from converting a credit card's 1.5%+ Sniip fee to a 0.85% Sniip fee (one example), it's also a way to get (discounted) prepaid physical Visa/MCs onto one's phone, allowing it to be used for everyday purposes, and always handy and balance tracked.

  • +1

Can I use this Digital Visa card to buy gift card in Woolworths and Coles?

Vanilla Visa card and Vanilla Mastercard cannot be used to buy gift card in Woolworths and Coles

  • +2

Does anyone know how much super funds charge for payment via these cards?
    (I am with unisuper)

    • The three super funds I have been with have never given me an option to make personal contributions directly from payment cards. Is it normal for super funds to offer this?

It looks like UniSuper accepts BPAY, so if UniSuper does not let you directly use payment cards as a payment source, you could go down the path of using a third-party BPAY payment service (e.g. Sniip) to send payments from payment cards. However, you have to keep in mind a few things:

      • There are usually fees involved with using a third-party BPAY payment service. For example, Sniip charges a 0.85% payment fee if you use a prepaid card as a payment source.

      • Some billers on Sniip do not accept prepaid cards as a payment method. The Sniip app will tell you if this the case when you attempt to make a payment.

      • If your super fund does actually accept direct payments from payment cards and you opt to use prepaid gift cards as a payment method, you may be asked extra questions. Prepaid gift cards are payment cards that have no verified cardholder attached to them, which makes them riskier for a merchant (in this case, a super fund) to accept.

  • all visa giftcard, is there any eftpost ones? I'm trying to avoid the credit card fee on visa

    • +2

Based on my experience over the last few weeks, unfortunately many merchants are still charging fees even though eftpos card is used.

Either they do surcharge on all cards or it is applied by cashier the moment they see you using a card.

I know some terminal applies surcharge based on the card use, in that case, it shoudnt charge a fee if paid by EFTPOS.

      • i need to have my car being repaired and i used eftpost before it was no fee, but then charge 1.5% for visa/mastercard, i'm going to spend $3k.. just wonder if it is worth to get or not

        • Can you get a new credit card? $3K can easily meet minimum spend for a new credit card if you use it to buy this, and the bonus offer of new card can offset the fee

          • @RTY: the problem is i already have credit card with limit $18k, i wonder can i apply for another one lol

            • @ivyholmes: I usually plan ahead and churn cc as I go

  • has anyone tried paying for nsw rego using these gift cards?

    • It should work, but you dont save much by doing so. However, TCN VISA can not be added to PayPal for split payment online.

  • Anyone waiting on them to send the $500 GCs? Received order confirmation hours ago but not the GC

    • Your order was cancelled.

  • When i go to checkout for a $150 card, the fee is $4.95.

How do i get the $0 fee??

  • looks like expired, being charged a fee now

  • -3

Wasn’t waived off, wasted of time.

    • Only lasted for a few hours yesterday.
