  This is the standard clearance price at most vendors atm.
  Decent price for a quality, albeit hefty, chef's knife. It's likely a discontinued model due to it's weight, the g-2 or g-77 would be a better buy for anyone concerned with weight.

    Yes, Globals are known for being on the softer side. Conversely, less likely to chip or break. If you know how to sharpen a knife properly (as you should if you're spending $100 and up per knife) you'll be golden.

      Yeah, just looked up Glestain I got, C59, not really holding the edge well. And surprisingly the only knife I managed to chip the tip.

    Softer than your typical Japanese knives, on par with quality German knives. Won't hold an edge as long as a harder steel, less prone to chipping, it's easier to hone more frequently than investing in a quality whetstone for a harder knife. Simply put, probably better for the day to day average user.
