Just make sure you start from the base model E330, not the middle one. The same specs actually work out cheaper when upgrading from the base model rather than the sale price from the middle spec laptop.
Base model is $499, adding i5 makes it $513, and you can add your own RAM and SSD later if you like, as lostix suggested.
Upgrading the RAM (to 4GB) and HDD (to 500GB 7200) makes it $572.
I think as long as the $ is more than $550, it applies a 10% discount code to it. Higher prices should = more discounts, but I don't have those details. Most likely something like this: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/79793
Don't forget to upgrade the WiFi to Intel Centrino for more antennas.
Getting it with 4GB RAM from Lenovo is $44.
If you get it with only 2GB RAM, you can get "Kingston 4GB DDR3 1600 Notebook Ram" from MSY for $22, so original 2GB + MSY 4GB = 6GB RAM for half the Lenovo price.
or you could get 2x "Kingston 4GB DDR3 1600 Notebook Ram" from MSY. 2x 4GB = 8GB RAM.
So for the same $44 you could get 8GB instead of of 4GB, and have a spare 2GB stick left over.
