For my fellow fishos out there!

The Daiwa 21 Caldia LT series is discounted atm via Amazon JP - free shipping, amazon-level customer service and of course a really good price compared to local sellers.

Some of the Japanese tackle stores are selling the caldia for similar but then chuck on another $15-$20 for shipping - takes longer, no insurance and no customer support comparable to Amazon's.

Locally, these reels sells for $299 on average, so a really really good price.

I've got the 2500 sized caldia and it is absolutely amazingly smooth, light and such a pleasure to use.

    Treat your self! It's probably the cheapest price for a mid range reel that has a monocoque body from Daiwa. Any cheaper and you start to look at the entry level reels (e.g. exceler and legalis lt) - and these don't have the monocoque body, weigh much more for the same reel class and aren't as well sealed.

  Emeraldas RX LT2500, $243 a bit more exy but seems to have all the latest tech.

  If you compare the tech vs exist, the emmy is only missing airdrive shaft.. and obviously build quality won't be as good (made in vietnam vs japan) and less bearings etc.
  but on paper its got most of the latest tech
