  • Good price. Not sure what anyone would use a 50mm for aside from professionals. I have a 42mm and I've used it a dozen times max till I realised it was a useless distance for me and defaulted to my others.

    • +1

I mostly shoot 40mm or 50mm (took 28mm and 50mm only for 2 weeks trip to Canada but only ouy the 28mm on brielfy for 2 days). It was an adjustment initially but now I love shooting 50mm.

Not sure what anyone would use a 50mm for aside from professionals.

That was focal distance that was pretty much the standard for decades, which is why it's called the normal focal length.

Personally for fixed, I find 35 or 50mm the most useful for urban photography.

      • I've always found I had to take more than a few steps back to be able to get what I wanted. I've found the 32mm area to be the best for that sort of thing.

    • +1

it's a good "medium. Not as wide as 35mm, but not as tight as 85mm.

i picked up the Sigma 45mm recently, fantastic focal length.

Too bad the Milvus isn’t available for this mount

    • couldn't imagine them being even 1% better than Sigma f/1.2 and f/1.4.

      • The sigma 35mm F1.2 is my favorite lens, it stays on the camera 50% of the time.
I am led to believe the 50mm is just as good (if not better).

        • how's the rendering compared to F1.4? you reckon it's worth it or nah over the F1.4?

          50mm F1.2 is crazy expensive….

          • @dukeGR4: I bought it from Amazon for around $1100 during a sale.
Its nothing short of amazing in every way.

  • What’s everyone’s thoughts on buying from Amazon US

    • I would be fine with it. Companies based overseas selling into Australia are still bound by Australian consumer law. The reason they're a nightmare for post sales service is because it's just not practical to enforce. In my experience, when I've complained about an Amazon UK/US etc product, they treat it as diligently as they would here (albeit after an initial "well, it's not really us…) because they know that most reasonable people would assume they're all part of the same massive global organisation.

The fact Amazon has Aussie premises here also should make it easier to pursue with the local state watchdog.

In my experience Amazon has been happy to foot the bill for return postage etc.

  • That’s awesome thanks for the information mate. Appreciate it

  • Nice. Was just watching Andrew Lanxon's street photography vid with the new S9 and this lens and figured it's about time I picked it up.

    • I watched his video last night and was impressed with the autofocus of the S9. I'm tempted to get an S9 now :) Have you ordered one? The thing that annoyed me about the S9 was the electronic only shutter / no viewfinder.

      • +1

S9 is such a half-baked product tbh, and is definitely more or a lifestyle product marketed towards tiktokers and influencers.

when i first saw the rumour on L-Mount Rumours about a full frame camera with custom LUT, i was really envisioning a A7C-rangefinder style camera but damn did they disappoint me.

        • Yea I thought about it and even though I was tempted to try Panasonic I went and bought an A7cr from JBhifi yesterday. The A7Cii and A7cr are more complete cameras. Even Andrew Laxon in his comment section said he wouldn’t buy one

        • Agreed! I have the S5iiX. Would have sold it and bought the S9 if it had an EVF or at least a hotshoe. Though the electronic shutter is disappointing, I would have been able to get over it…
