why did they make the 4 holes in the back visible from the front ?

I mean I know they are for mounting but why have them exposed like that? ruins the look and the whole idea of displaying something you like. they could have easily had them on a extra panel and hidden those holes.

you could put black tape over them but still won’t look as good as no holes.

        🙅‍♀️

$19 is also around what I would expect for it so I don’t think cost is an issue to add another panel and hide those holes..

    • No dramas, just put these on the screws - snap on cover

or these if those caps don't cover all of the hole, and touch them up with a black permanent marker -stick on cover

      • thanks for the links but I just wish the holes weren’t visible.

I first thought about cutting some black vinyl to size and sticking it to the back of each shelf to make it consistent.
if you do screw mount it though I think the screws will push out into the vinyl making their shape visible.
other alternative is to cover with vinyl and just have this sit on a shelf or desk.

depends how light it is and how smooth it is on the back but a bunch of 3M command strips might do the job of mounting maybe.

I think if your hanging shite on your wall like this the designers knew you don't really care about things 'looking good'..

      • this comment sounds very elitist and privileged to be honest. not everyone can buy expensive ones I'm assuming you are talking about the ones that start at $60 and up to $100+ on amazon. or maybe you are talking about multithousand dollar art on your wall or something. *ok I get it now your username checks out. 💁‍♀️

$19 for this is a price right for me. and I don't think what I wrote is ridiculous they could have easily put another panel in to hide the holes, probably would of cost them a extra 50c to add to each box. main problem for me at the moment is they are designed for "lego" I didn't know that. I just wanted a mini display shelf that keeps things dust free and I can easily look inside because it's transparent.

  • Thanks Op. Bought one.

    • Hey jeeg / squaredonut, when you get it, can you let me know if the lego on the shelves is removable and the shelf is still solid underneath as I want it to display some other things that aren't lego.

      • Sure mate

      • can you let me know if the lego on the shelves is removable

oh what this is specifically for Lego figures?
I didn’t catch that part from pictures and description.

ok I can see it now in the first picture when zoomed in. little Lego shapes. looks like I should search for something else.

      • I'm looking for something for my nephew to keep/display his better Hot Wheels. Everything I've seen is incredibly expensive. Anyone know of anything suitable and cheap that isn't necessarily described as specifically for Hot Wheels, before I try and build him something.

      • It says figurines not included.

Other pics show the shelves with nothing on them.

        Edit - my bad
I see what you mean now - the connectors on the shelves.
        Stupid me

Hi mate. We collected the display case today. Upon inspection the lego base plate is permanently fixed onto the shelf and cannot be removed. I am not sure if it is a good idea to. Use force to pry them apart.

Also the overall workmanship of the display case is not that great. If this is not $19 i would have been disappointed.

        • Thanks jeeg, think I'll give it a miss now.

  • These are a bit average compared to the the plastic ones. The door and design is nice-ish, but the wood is flimsy, I got one before but the hinge and the screws on it were so flimsy that over time it came off a bit an you can no longer screw it in tight enough.

    • can no longer screw it in tight enough

Try a wooden tooth pick in the hole; put the pointy bit in and snap it of level, the screw usually grips then (just be careful the frame doesn't start splitting though, if it does, split the toothpick in half down the length and try again).

  • Yeah these were a bit shite iirc, bits falling off etc. Should have kept the older plastic ones.

  • At this price I could use a bout 5 of these; but I don't want the 'Lego' base on the bottom of the shelves. White would be nice too, though black is OK. Of course I could make them myself, but it would take ages and the cost of materials would probably be about $10 anyway.

Does anyone know of a product like this available on the Australian market, but with no 'Lego' on the bottom of the shelves, for about $20?

    • Just put a matching paper sheet on it

    • Kmart review for the fancy model posted below says;

"All of the plates can be removed quite easily. To remove the ones at either end all you have to do is slide both doors to the same side."

  • If you need a built in light, you might look into this one

I will wait for sale price 😊

Wish I still had my Citadel miniatures. Blood for ther Blood God!

  • The quality is really subpar. But at $19 I guess it's expected? My wife bought for my 7yo son and he seems to like it.

    Good compatibility with lego pieces

    • is the lego floor stuck on on each shelf out of the box?

some amazon versions of this seem to show pictures suggesting it's optional and they just come in the package to stick on yourself.

      • Yes. It looks like they stuck it with super glue.

  • Now $14.00

    • hey!

just now after reconsidering I had a bright idea, I could use it upside down and get to use the normal flat shelves? (and a reverse opening door)

  • $14 now

    This is $19.
