    • Right? Device that has plenty of compute power, SSD storage speed, super portable, resilient via a battery, built in monitor, power efficient and cheap.

Does this model have a backlit keyboard?

    • I have no actual idea, but rubber keys so I doubt it

E:I’m wrong - there’s apparently a variant with and without

  • Can anyone confirm if this model has an Intel nic?

  • Any model like this but with sim card slot?

  • @MetroCom I just ordered one and had to agree to terms and conditions, but clicking on the link gives me a 404 error.

  • +3

Would also like to know if it has a backlit keyboard. Dell show it as available with two different keyboards, One with and one without.

  • thank,

  • With warranty, who pays for the shipping?

  • Has anyone got their order yet?

    • Nah mine is taking it’s sweet time, I paid extra for fast shipping too

      • Auspost is shocking. If I have known this, I would have chosen “pickup” as I am just one suburb away.

        • +1

Yeah I’m located in Sydney so pick was not an option

      • How long did yours take before it arrived with the express shipping option?

I picked it up from the store. A bit of a ramshackle place, but doesn't matter. In moderate condition, some bumps and marks, but not too bad. The Wi-Fi didn't work initially unfortunately, device manager reported an error with the Intel AX201 adapter. Did a BIOS update and it seemed to fix it (many updates were needed from Dell's site) - https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-au/product-support/prod…

      • Have you tried updating driver from Windows?

I have similar issue with sound driver. I have to uninstall sound driver and find new driver via Windows and it works.

I finally received the laptop. External looks ok with a few scratches. No sign of dropped etc. The keyboard and screen show no significant wear an tear. Did quick diagnostics in BIOS and everything seems good. Battery status is "Excellent", cannot find somewhere that gives the percentage. Maybe someone can give me some pointers on how to get the percentage and I can share my stats.

The only issue I have so far is the touchpad. Seems "sticky" for some reason (e.g. automatic select multiple items while hovering over them). I might need to disable it somehow. Or maybe claim warranty, as the warranty runs out in Dec 2024.

Currently installing all the drivers and firmware. Will provide more update tomorrow.

To check battery current capacity instead of health open command prompt as admin and type powercfg /batteryreport /output "C:\battery_report.html". The open file, you will see the current capacity and designed capacity, so you can work out the percentage

      • Thanks Hero!

My battery is 100%. I suspect they have swapped the new battery because the original is below 70%. I haven't had time to open the back to check if the battery is OEM.

        • Confirmed OEM battery.

  • My laptops arrived, it looks to be in good condition, but I’ve got a bit of an issue, when I started the laptop up for the first time it’s asking for a work or school email for the setup, can I bypass this and use a password to login @MetroCom. Thanks

    • That is normal. You can use your outlook account if you have one.

      • I’ve tried that, it doesn’t work

        • Hi mate can you reach us via email, we will get it sorted.

  • Strange, it works for me and my other Win 11 laptop.

My 1st login experience is very similar to this one from YouTube.

  • Mine has a lot of marks and scratches on the lid and edges. And there is a cracking sound everytime i open/close the lid. It sucks that you have to pay the postage to return

    • +2

      Condition: Good cosmetic condition

I'd argue if there's a crackling sound that is "poor condition" and you should be able to get them to pay postage as the item did not arrive as described.

      • They sent me a postage label to return. It was pretty fast. Nice service!

  • Mine arrived today. Decent condition however it comes with a Lenovo power cord. Is that an issue?

Also, how can I measure the battery health just to be sure that it's as per the description on the site.

    • +1

You can go into to the bio settings(by pressing f2 while booting) and it’ll show you battery condition, it won’t give you a percentage it’ll just say perfect, good, fair or poor

      • Thanks mate!
        I will try this

      • Thanks mate. I will check that

    • I got Lenovo power cord too and it is 65W, so I am ok with it.

      • Thanks mate.

    • Mine arrived with a battery health of ~81% - not bad. I also received a Lenovo 65W USB-C charger.

      • Thanks for letting us know ExPrinceHairy. How was the condition of the laptop?

        • +1

I would say it's a B-grade. A few scratches here and there, but nothing major. I cleaned it with Isocol and it got rid of most of the visible marks.

          • +1

@ExPrinceHairy: Mine is similar, managed to get rid of visible marks with Isocol but still have some paint scratched. Oh well, I don't want to spend another $20 on laptop skin/sticker, so I have to get used to it. The saving grace is I got a new battery, also the screen is perfect, keyboard is as good if not better than my Thinkbook.

  • +1

I have a very visible scratch on the screen that impacts the colouring. Looks like a big nail mark. Do we know if this will be covered through warranty? Or who we find to get warranty? Thanks so much

      You need to contact Metrocom.

Missed out on this deal so went looking on FB marketplace and found the same model and RAM for $509. The condition is excellent, looks like new. Battery is ~ 79% and came with the Dell 65W USB-C charger. In hindsight, I'm glad I missed out. Seller is in West Ryde Sydney, PM if you want his details. He had 1 left this morning but it sounds like he occasionally gets stock. I have no affiliation with the guy. It was a good transaction, he showed me that everything worked and I was getting the model and specs as advertised.

  • if i want to get a new battery, what are my options?

  • Can you replace / get a new battery for these?

    • Yes you can.

    • I found some OEM on eBay but some said you can order directly from Dell. I am unable to order from Dell directly online.

  • Just ordered mine with express shipping.
I'm leaving the country on Saturday 29th. Will it be before then?

    • If you are in Melbourne I suggest you go pick it up yourself. AusPost took more than a week to ship mine across one suburb.

      • Thanks mate. I'm about 7 hours drive away from Melbourne at the moment, so it's not really an option for me unfortunately. I'll just contact them Monday. Cheers for the info.
