GL.iNet GL-MT3000 (Beryl AX) Travel Router to Use as A Home Router

I'm looking at replacing my ISP provided old Technicolor TG789 for my FTTC connection.

Would this be alright to use as a router at home as it has a small footprint and it's on sale

why would you want a small footprint router in your house?

  • I live in a small roughly 65sqm 2 bedroom unit so assumed it'd be alright to use.

The coverage sucks on those little things - how come you don't just get a normal WiFi router?
There are plenty that cost less and perform better

  • I thought it'd be convenient but Amazons having a huge sale, so I'll shop around.

    • eero and TP-Link Deco have a small footprint.

      TP-Link Deco X20 Wi-Fi 6 router (1-Pack) $132.72 Delivered @ Amazon AU.

Leaptel provide an eero 6+ Wi-Fi 6 router $170 upfront or on a 12 month or 24 month payment plan.

Superloop provide an eero 6+ Wi-Fi 6 router for $0 if you stay with them for 18 months.

A FREE eero 6+ (including eero Secure) is available to all Superloop residential nbn customers. You can only get one free router per service, and must be connected via FTTP, FTTC, or HFC technology. To qualify your service must remain active for 18-months, however, if you cancel your service before your 18-months is up you’ll be charged a one-off clawback fee of $8/mth (inc. GST) based on the number of months remaining. So, if you cancel 6-months into your 18-month commitment the amount owed will be based off the remaining 12-months.

By the way you can probably change from FTTC to FTTP. Check here.

      • Already know we can't get FTTP for our unit block.

Had a look and I'm not eligible for that offer as an existing Superloop customer

        • FTTP eligibility gets updated all the time. Have you checked the NBN link recently?

  • I have a GL.iNet Slate router for my house. And I'm totally happy with it.

But I bought it because I knew for certain I could tether my 5G phone to it for my internet connection.

I might also buy one as a travel router.

But as good as it is at what its good at, I don't think its what I'd choose if I wanted a wifi router to connect to the NBN.

    • Yeah I'm considering the GL.iNet GL-MT6000 or a Mercusys AX3000
