Garmin Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar Smartwatch $849 Delivered @ David Jones

570

Previous deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/833932) is back.

JB would not price match as they don't stock the titanium model, but YMMV.

Good luck.

nice! I wish 7s goes on sale too! small wrist :(

The Iconic has a black 7s sapphire solar on sale for $799. Not affiliated, just looking for new running gear on sale and saw it

      • oh thanks for letting me know :)

    • 7S Pro is on sale on Amazon for the 42mm, best price it has been.

      • nice! will check this out, thank you!

Reduce the price of the Pro you cowards 😡

    • JB hi-fi had it for around $1K on Wednesday

    • what's your top 3 reasons for buying the pro version? genuinely curious

      • +2

I have a Epix Gen 2 Sapphire (not pro). Couldn't justify the price difference but my top 3 would be Flashlight, and EKG. possibly improved HRM

        • Yeah I wanted the flash light. Instinct 2X was too big

@eddyah: It's pretty awesome not gonna lie. Had saved me a few times when head torch had died or I needed a second light source.

Had super bad luck the other day when head torch AND back up torch went flat, must've stuffed the charging on the backup. Was able to limp back with the watch on a very slippery muddy trail.

Still can't believe so many torch brands use micro USB.

    • probably this is the one you are looking for

      • So wish they had one in the silver titanium colour.

  • Waiting for an instinct 2x cracker deal..

  • How long before you need to charge this, is it really 28 days battery life as advertised?

Follow up question if anyone know: what is the best smart watch with has long battery life? I'm sick and tired of daily charging my Apple Watch. Or should I buy Oura Ring or wait for the next ring product?

    • +1

I used it every day for activity tracking (gym, runs, sport) and after a year and a half it's now around the 14 day mark I'd say. At the beginning, it was more like 21-24 days roughly. For long battery life, there's also the Enduro with similar functionality or the Instinct 2x Solar which I believe you almost never need to charge.

Thanks mate! Will keep an eye on the Instinct 2 deal.

        • +1

All good! I think the key differences are maps (lets say for hiking but also for running in new areas) and also flashlight (no joke the most used feature on my watch every day!).

    • +1

Instinct 1 Solar - 2.5 weeks for me.

Instinct 2 Solar can do indefinitely on standard usage - can someone confirm.

  • What size is it?

    • +2

it doesn't tell your size, only time. and weather

I guess one needs Pro for that

    • +3

The 7X is 51mm, where as the 7 is 47mm, and the 7S is 42mm

  • From what I checked a few months ago, it is not worth it.

I got the Instinct 2X Solar over Fenix because it is cheaper and yet complete.
Instinct 2X Solar has flashlight which I have it set to red color for night use and the GPS is far better than Fenix.
From what I remember, you need to buy Fenix top models to get the best GPS hardware which is stock with Instinct 2X Solar.
The battery last easily 35 days and I don't spend much time outside to charge it via solar, 50k is enough to delay the battery by one day.

Instinct 2X Solar also supports the quick fit bands, just remove the stock silicone band and put the pin back, I am using a titanium band with mine without issues.
So anyway, make sure you all check the specs closely to make sure it is what you want.

    • Why was this thumbed down? Great comment.

        Some people have fragile ego!

I had no idea it can do red light lol.

The only reason I want to upgrade to a Fenix is map functions and the improvement for nav points (weird glitches for the instinct if you google it).

      Otherwise I love it.

    • The sapphire Fenix 7 models have the same GPS as instinct 2

  • I am not really impressed with the solar feature on my old Fenix 6X. I misplaced my charging cable. When the battery ran out of power I left it in the Sun for month. When I tried to check how much charge I had gained, I found I couldn't actually turn it on at all. (I bought a new cable and it worked fine).

I also find it strangely hard to remember that they put the back button on the forward side of the watch. Other than that I quite like the old 6X, it is handy that I only have to charge it once every few weeks.

    • I didn't think the solar on the 6X actually charges it? Similar to the Instinct 1, it only makes the battery life longer.

    • +1

It doesn't really charge it, it only generates power to support the running of the watch so when it's in the sun it's not pulling from the battery thereby giving longer battery life.

    Shows $1849 for me?

  • Flashlight?

  • Anyone else get their order cancelled? :((
