  • Gone?

    • Still showing availability for me.

Any reason to get these over the Ikea ones these days?

      • Any reason to get these over the Ikea ones these days?

The IKEA chargers are wildly inaccurate at charge termination, and significantly slower. While the current IKEA charger has the electronics required to be labelled as a smart charger, it's so poorly implemented that it shouldn't really be considered as a smart charger.

If you have one yourself, and need convincing, charge some batteries, let them cool down for at least 30 minutes, and then put them back in the charger. See how long it takes the charger to recognise that they are already fully charged. The current IKEA charger takes 20-30 minutes, while the Liitokala Lii-500 (a well-designed smart charger) takes 4 minutes.

    • Still wasn't showing up for me. I thought it might just be because I'm in a regional WA area, so I changed my shipping address to a metro area, and the deal appeared. Went to checkout and changed my address back to my home address and it went through no problems. Weird.

I was quite willing to buy at this price, then I searched a bit and found out it has been $21 ($18.90 with S&S). I'll wait another opportunity. :)

This is the basic charger you’re referring to. Different product.

      • Oh, thanks. I think I don;t mind the slow charging one, tho

        • +1

Not just slow charging. Stops after 13 hours. Not smart charging. Not continuous…

Ozbargain is a bit crazy at times but IMHO the more expensive item is worth it.

It's not the speed that is the problem. It doesn't detect when the battery is "full", and overcharges the battery. It's designed to damage your batteries, but in a way that will give you a couple of years of life from your batteries.

Almost all chargers made by battery companies are like this, they want you to keep replacing your batteries every few years, so they continue to make profit from you. Buy a smart charger like the one in this deal, and you'll get much longer battery life.

Got it for $29 using PICKUP10OFF

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/844071

    • Excellent mate! I ordered for pickup as well for $29.
      Cheers

    • Thanks for this, I got the smart charger and also 2x packs of AA Pro for $53 —- I don't know how my account already had the saving applied and the pickup stacked for another $10 off Ozbargained…

    • Kidding? I'LL try to cancell my order

  • Probably irrelevant but I don't understand why S&S is a thing for rechargeable batteries
