Looks like the price of iPad 9th gens are coming down.
Not sure I'd buy a 9th gen (it's the last generation that still uses a lightning connector, instead of usbC), but someone might find it useful. They're still perfectly capable for web browsing and streaming

hasn't it always been at this price or at least when discounted? The 64gb storage is abit lacking even just for school
yes it's always ~$450. It should have been below $400 by now since the 10th gen RRP is $599 and it's so old.

I still can't get myself over the idea that it was released almost 3 years ago for $499 and was easy enough to get for $450 with giftcards and such.
The iPad has always punched above its weight in terms of hardware and functionality compared to price (even though the hardware was 2 years old on release), but the ozbargainer in me still isn't happy.
Because dumbasses at Google can’t make a decent tablet to compete.
Almost got the deal at Officeworks yesterday, I'm glad I went with the JB deal and got the M2 for only $130~ more than this. The lightning port is a good point to mention, they won't be making many if any more lightning compatible devices in the near future.

Yes then immediately cancel, only paying $480 cancellation fee + $69 for the first month. The $69 hasn't been charged yet though so may have gotten it for $480.

But most likely cancel right away to maybe not get charged the $69 for first month (people say they will charge you anyways). Or wait for a little bit and you can use the data before canceling.
Waiting for 10th Gen price to come down to this level.
It only just reduced last month so expect to wait another year or 2 (or more)
If you use Apple Pencil to draw then you should really consider the new Air. Hover and Barrel Roll, and the pinch thing, are game changers. Hover alone is worth the upgrade. If you don't draw then this old iPad will probably do you just fine.
They… didn't have hover before?? That's a pretty basic feature, wow. The S Pen had that years ago, and never needs to be charged!
Hover was introduced for Apple Pencil 2, but only for the M1 and newer iPads iirc.

I know that it's such a minor thing, but the lightning over usb-c might actually be a deal-breaker for me. I'm slowly shifting everything over to a single connector for a single charging solution, and I don't want to mess that up.
