Domain providers who have with wildcard address forwarding provision

We are currently with GoDaddy and the man and I both have our own domains. We primarily use this so we can have email addresses that consist of (anyname)@domainname.extension and have it funnelled to our real Yahoo email accounts.

GoDaddy is ceasing to have this feature because of security. However we think it must be more secure if our real email address isn’t out in the public. However, happy if people have an alternate view on this. This is very annoying because we are busily moving our crucial accounts to our real email addresses.

What we are looking for is an alternative provider that still has this capability. Namecheap seems to have it but I was wondering if people had others to recommend.

Thank-you are any assistance.

Not sure what your setup is with GoDaddy, but unless you want to continue to be beholden to the whims of your registrar - you can capture all unrouted mail in cPanel.

    • Thanks. Will look into this.

Seconding that. VentraIP (with cPanel) is local, good and cheap. DNS and mail forward included with domain reg.

GoDaddy, Yahoo? This sounds like some serious 2006 time warp email issues.

    • Yeah I know, but it delivered what I wanted. Don’t see the point moving around unless I need to.

you could keep your domain with GoDaddy, but have your nameservers point to Fastmail, who would host your domain/DNS, as well as email:

    my domains are with Porkbun

    • Thanks for the help.

here's how to do catch-all/wildcard aliases with Fastmail:
        https://www.fastmail.help/hc/en-us/articles/1500000277942-Ca…

consider moving away from Yahoo to a better/proper email provider such as Fastmail (else Gmail if you want free)

of the more recognised registrars, Cloudflare are perhaps cheapest for renewals if you don't want to change each year, Porkbun generally cheapest registration/transfer - compare prices at https://tld-list.com/

        • Good info. Why do you recommend moving away from Yahoo email?

This is a catch-all. Namecheap is probably your best bet if you want to keep everything in one place (and is cheaper than GoDaddy), otherwise services such as ImprovMX seems to offer this as well. It's not really anything to do with security, GoDaddy being the horrible company that they are probably just want more money out of you.

namecheap has free wildcard email forwarding.

Cloudflare and squarespace also offer catch-all forwarding

  • Thanks for all the input people; this is terrific. The more options I have the better.

I wouldn't use email with the domain provider. And I wouldn't use cPanel/PHP/your own server for email either. Wouldn't use godaddy for any services at all.

If you're in the apple ecosystem another option is to just get a domain and use Apple Mail with icloud+

    https://www.apple.com/icloud/#compare-plans

It's like $1.20 a month or something little like that. Allows for catch all and allows you to send via Apple Mail. (so not just forwarding)

It can be shared with family members and has other benefits for increased storage, 1 homekit camera etc.

I've gone down that path and it's been great.

    • DKIM keys with iCloud+ is broken so your emails will not reach the inbox, and Apple support has no idea how to fix it.

I moved to cloudflare. Cheapest renewals for most Tlds and supports catch-all for email routing.

Just had the same issue with godaddy. Moved the mail server to purelymail.com Easy to setup and $10 US / year.

  • Again, thanks people.

there's also protonmail or simplelogin if you want to keep your yahoo.

Cloudflare has email routing. Plus you get a bunch of other stuff that you can tinker with on Cloudflare for free. You do have to shift your DNS over to them. I also use them for my actual domain registration as well - very cheap, they basically just on-charge the underlying registry fees. From memory it was about US$8/year for a .com

  • Thanks for the help people. We are going with VentraIP.
