HPM 2-Wire Door Entry Voice Intercom Kit (unlock capable) - $39.00 from Bunnings (was $129)

80

Possibly a 'percieved bargain' as there are other cheaper brands that normally sell for this price however I just found these in the Albion (QLD) Bunnings Store and bought the last two they had on their shelves as I'm in the need for such a system. Note in the pic the extra handset sells for $95.00 by itself which is why I grabbed the 2nd kit purely for the extra handset :)

Bit more info on them here (cheekily from the Masters website): http://www.masters.com.au/product/900027534/hpm-audio-door-e…

Not sure if these are available at all Bunnings but if you're visiting one it might be worth checking them out and posting here with stock levels. Thanks!

  • how easy to install? need to drill thru concrete walls?

It's a 2-Wire system so you can use your standard doorbell wiring however yes you'll need to drill through walls if you don't already have wiring installed. This is not a wireless system.

don't suppose you saw how much the door strike release bits were?

    • I did look for them but didn't see them sorry. I assume you could use most generic door strikes with these but if not I'm sure a basic relay trigger system would be enough to get something generic working.

      • I thought you said the unlocker was included?

Yeah sorry, the title was a bit misleading. The intercom itself has unlocking capabilities however it does not come with a door strike. I have edited the title now so hopefully it's a bit clearer.

Nice, this could save me a long walk from the east wing to answer the door on Alfred's day off! ;)

Swann has a video door intercom for $30.
It says recond, but mine looked new.

    • Nice info and thanks for the link!

I'm doing my front door intercom a bit differently. I'm keeping it as a 'voice only' system because I already have very decent IP cameras covering that area 24/7 and one of those cameras will be zoomed in on the front gate anyway. The camera I'll use is far away from the gate, well protected and nearly invisible so it will provide a far better view than a video intercom plus it's less likely to be vandalised.
