Remington RX7 Vs Skull Shaver opinions?

As title suggests. Looking at one of these 2 options as they seem best recommended for bald or almost completely bald head shaving

Con for the RX7 seems to be availability on replacement blades in Australia

The skull shaver is more easily accessible to replacement blades but slightly more expensive units than the Remington

Skull gold - $189 vs the rx7 around the $160 mark

Wanting to get some opinions, as currently using my wahl waterproof with foil blade attachment to cut my hair but bit more time consuming and not as consistent as an orbital shaver

  • I don't have any experience with the Skull Shaver but have owned multiple Remington products and they're kinda shoddy in terms of reliability (I've owned multiple RX7's and Rapid Cuts over the years). They're great when they work though.

The usual issue I run into is after a couple of months, the clipper tends to turn on by itself randomly even after I've turned it off. Usually ends with me running the battery dry and getting a replacement under warranty. The most recent incident I had was with an RX7 about 2 months ago, which I owned for roughly 6 months. For reference, I mainly use the RX7 in the shower with shaving cream. I try to wash off any cream on the shaver and dry it off after.

My advice is don't go buying these expensive Remington shavers expecting them to last a long time, expect to replace them 1-2 years down the road.

In the future, I'd probably grab this shaver from Kmart. It'll probably end up lasting the same amount of time and won't feel as bad when it breaks down.

    • Appreciate the response! I won’t waste my money on the Remington on the recommendation of their failures. I’ve seen many reviews on ozB against the skull shavers, I’m just wanting some decent that’ll last me a long time, and purchased my wahl beard trimmer for that reason

  • I have the pitbull silver shaver and absolutely love it. Was always a hassle using a blade and cream every couple of days for my head. Now it's a breeze and do it most days.

    • Yeah not feeling like using a blade, I mean that would be to the scalp so that’d be the most ideal. But yeah eyeing off the pitbull gold anyways as it seems to be rated well amongst most, seen a couple posts on ozB with comments from users
