      Thanks . As above comments.

  • Free version of OP website. Use at own risk. Remember you need to give your real personal details and your beneficiaries real details, so use a website you can trust.

  • Let me guess, the website is nominated as the executor…

    • The section about being an executor states that it's a lot of hard work and you should say no. A bit suss.

      • Ask someone who has been an executor and see wat they say. Sounds like you might be surprised.

        • The point is you should avoid extra-familial executors unless you explicitly trust the third party. Went through hell with a bush lawyer who conned a grandparent into making him the executor. Getting that untangled took more than just words.

        • Point being my dad got a free will but when I read it, it appointed the company as executor and their fees were a large percentage of the estate. I got dad to change his will quite quickly.

@nedski: The most they can charge is 5% of the estate, and I understand they cannot charge additional fees for services if they do, but that might differ between jurisdictions. You'd want to know their fees up front and a ballpark estimate at the very least. Given they should have braod expereeince roviding an estimate should be simple enough.

Obviously family members or a solicitor you know and trust are MUCH better options than an online service. BUT…before anyone agrees to be an executor they should fully understand their role and responsibilities, and how much time and effort could be involved. They should also understand what can go awry in certain circumstances, eg https://attwoodmarshall.com.au/executor-costs-administering-…

            • @Igaf: It's all good now. My dad passed and I was the only beneficiary. I'm a lawyer and handled the probate myself.

Plenty of free options as demonstrated above.

The last time a deal was posted by Quick Wills, the comments by the rep didn't inspire much confidence.

Their website is very USA centric, with references to AOL. Website looks like it hasn't been updated since the early 2000s.

This site contains links to other sites. QuickWills.com.au is not responsible for the privacy practices of these web sites and has no knowledge of whether cookies or other tracking devices are used by them

For a company that is in the business of law, it's most concerning that you haven't adequately vetted external links on your own website. Pretty sloppy.

Forget about wills, I wouldn't trust these guys holding my pet rock's leash.

Its concerning when a business rep had no clue and and their response when corrected was to accuse people of multiple accts, trolls etc.

      • +1

Good pickup, this is what their rep said for everyone else in the last deal.

Oops! Didn't realise this place had Trolls. Should not have engaged, mistook them for genuine concerns

And by the way having two logins for OzBargain is against their terms and conditions.

RUN AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN

I wouldn't trust a business with something as important as a will when they are so quick to be rude to community members -
