Where to Optimally Buy Dell XPS15 with 64GB RAM?

Hi all,

For my line of work I need to buy a Dell 64gb ram. I will use it for work but my employer is not going to found it. I have a salary packaging agreement though which I wish to use for this purchase.

Coming to the issue: it seems that Dell website doesn't have the 64gb configuration of XPS15 available anymore. I wonder if this is normal/temporary and/if it makes sense to turn somewhere else for it. Really wanted to get the OLED 64 configuration!

thanks,

Why would you buy a laptop that your employer should be paying for???

Anyway, they're SODIMMS, just buy the 16GB version and upgrade it yourself. But first ask yourself why you're buying the laptop and not your employer.

but my employer is not going to found it

I think OP is just going to hide it really well so employer won't pay for something they don't know exists.

  • Well, the sad reality is that I need the laptop for work, but my employer only finances a meagre 7% discount. Of course I could use the company's one, but it's not good enough for the type of programming I do.

I really hoped Dell had the XPS available on their page but it seems like it is not anymore. bummer.

If it's not good enough then that is their problem. Is spending a couple of grand worth it to you in any way? If you need a laptop then sure, but it needs to be worth it as part of your career, not to help them.

But to the point, it's upgradeable, just upgrade it.

  • If you are buying it yourself then just upgrade it yourself.

  • where do I get it though? on the website it is not available

    • thanks man. I understand that I was filtering out not-readily-available ones. cheers!

  • I hope they are paying you well if you are about to fork out 5k just so you can do your job! They should be paying for it if you need it. Obviously. If this is just something you want and you don’t actually need, I guess it’s a bit different.

  • So much better value out there than poorly designed XPS. Ensure you pay for the extended warranty, you'll be gratefull when its the 3rd time Dell come out to replace the motherboard. For that $$$, MSI or Metabox will yield you a much much better specced machine imo.

buy a desktop. you will spend half the money and get twice the performance. yes, i have run bench marking on 60+ models across hardware from the past 5-6 years (including 14th gen)

Don't know why I've been negged. No where does it say portable in the Ops requirements. The problem with laptops is the processor hits the thermal limit quicker than a desktop processor (that has a heat sink and a bigger fan)
