If there was one supermarket that sold "pirated" foods for free, and another next door that charged for the same exact items, I'd go to the pirated supermarket.

        • Actually a better analogy would be having to go to 7 different supermarkets each week for grocery shopping, or going to just 1 "free" supermarket. It would be an absolute no brainer for me.

        • +2

          this makes no sense

Firstly you don't sell something that is free

Pirated is just another name for stolen

So let's just get a clear gauge on your moral compass here - what you are saying is if a guy who you know had stolen food was standing out the front with a quasi-shop (let's call it a stall) offering it for free on the condition you say also deliver (seed) some of his exploits to his mates …. you'd see that as okay?

I learned a long time ago, this sort of fee is not a lot of money, same with buying games at the right price on Steam sales etc to not bother with torrenting and all the hassle, and potentially downloading viruses and just be a good clean person. Like its $45 for a year - its barely even worth talking about, that's 12.33 cents per day. The electricity of your torrenting computer staying on is probably costing you more.

          • -2

@MrFrugalSpend: You don't have to seed at all - you can set uploading speed to 0. And it's not just $45 a year - that's just for one service. What about all the other streaming services out there?

            • @Mondorock: each to their own.

Whilst also not technically within terms of service - In some cases, where the effort is worth it, I prefer the VPN options where you can get buying it cheaper on overseas currency / pricing models to work…
I figure if they are willing to sell it for that price to someone, then that's not as blatant theft

they got the A league but the season is pretty much over not bad for next season

  • Can you stream from different households?

    • Currently yes, but I did hear they were contemplating going down the netflix path. Who knows how well they'll implement it though, given how shit the app itself is.

Thanks OP will sub to watch the new Top Gear Australia at this price

  • Does Paramount+ includes any of the live international cricket games ?

    • I think prime video does it but only world cup

  • Anything worth watching? Can’t even see without subscribing…..

    • +2

Star trek stuff. Strange new worlds is good.

      Mayor of Kingstown

Some of the Yellowstone spin offs.

Enough it is worth the look.

      • Also Corporate, which is a good dark comedy that doesn't get much recognition.

    • +1

i just went to the site and clicked shows down the bottom and it let's me browse the entire catalog. Friend also did without issue so maybe have another look?

    • Go back to their website and scroll down the bottom to where it say Movies, TV Shows, Sports etc

I was subscribed for 1 year and the only thing I watched as Halo. Nothing else interested me.

    • +1

I watch two EPS of that and was booorrreedd

      • You were bothered enough to write an extra 2x o's and 2x r's and 1x e and 1x d = 6 extra letters - yet that would have been enough to write "episodes" and still have a spare letter left over….

Am I the only person here that responds by twitching and shuddering like its nails on a chalkboard when someone uses the term "Eps" in this context !?

I work with investments and that's earnings per share.
I also dabble in creative suite where .EPS is a file extension
and from knowing diabetics I immediately think of Epi pens for Epinephrine …
Why do we need "EPS" as an abbreviation for a TV show?! … but mainly its worse when spoken like when Channel 10 I think it was kept saying it for their own show advertising "Up next, its a brand new Ep of …. " Me: turns TV off in protest.

          Thank you for your input

        • Probs only you

  • Superb timing, My previous $5 a month deal via Amazon Prime will expire on June 3rd, so have bitten the bullet and plumped for a 12 monther…
worth it for me for Halo and the star trek stuff…

  • Thanks! Got the premium for a year.

Just signed up since I've been sitting on a few shows I really want to get into. Got to say though…..my initial the streaming experience with Paramount is a bit rubbish! Video stutters and buffering pretty constantly (only 1 screen going and I have a 100 Mbps connection which is working fine).

    • +1

Same here very buggy. They have some great shows but the overall library is absolutely tiny compared to every other streaming service. I wouldn't bother with a 1 year, depending on your available time to watch tv I think 1 month is all you need.

      • Agreed, a month if you want to binge it or two if you’re into Star Trek.

    • Sounds like binge

    • Been using Paramount on MacBook, iPad and iPhone now for about 6 months. I stream tv shows, movies and a lot of live sport. Compared to Optus Sport, Paramount is amazing and far more reliable. I haven't had any stutters or issues…

  • Can we share accounts ?

    • +2

Yes, I share my account with another person who is living in another location. No issues so far.

  • Cheers, OP. Happy to pay $45 for the whole year. :)

  • Thanks OP! Just cancelled my subscription to try and get this annual deal - was going month by month waiting for a decent deal to come up again. Hopefully it lasts a couple of weeks.

Was thinking of picking up Paramount+ at this price to get the FA Cup for next year. A quick bit of research shows that Channel10/Paramount+ had broadcast rights up until this season. This article suggests that TNT Sports in the UK will share the rights to a free-to-air broadcaster in Australia but who are yet to be announced. Wonder what this means in practice?

  • I am already paying for Paramount Plus (I'm rewatching Southpark) through Amazon Prime and I was going to cancel it and get 3 more months on the Paramount+ website but Prime offered me the same price. So if you are currently on prime and paying for paramount+ it may offer you a discount when you attempt to cancel

    • New South Park 24th!
      Lets GO!

    • Can confirm (see below) that it worked for me when I cancelled this morning.

  • Awesome, thanks OP.

Anyone else getting a VPN screen error when you don't have a VPN at all?

  • My current plan ends in 3 days hopefully this code still works till then.

It will not allow me to enter the code now.

    • +2

Code valid until 28th so you’ll be fine.

Anyone keen to share the subscription (standard or premium if there's enough people)?

    • if you are keen to share your credit card details

    Is there anything to watch?

  • +1

    Good for Survivor series

  • shame you can not get this discount on playstation prime as its a channel within it and charged the stupid monthly. can not buy it for discount.

  • +1

Shows up as $62 per annum for me for premium plan without the use of any code on the paramount app. Used to be a member before.

    • Likewise I just logged into my expired account via chrome and it pops up straight away with the 50% off offer, no code required.

  • +1

I'm not sure if this counts as a 'hack' or not, but I found a way to close my active monthly subscription and take full advantage of this offer. You may not think it worth the hassle:

    (1) In my active account, I changed subscription to "annual" (did not read/realise it would charge me immediately, negating what's left of the monthly subscription I was in!)
    (2) Immediately cancelled my account (email said this would only apply in 2025, at the end of the new annual subscription period
    (3) Sent Paramount+ a support request this morning explaining my mistake and asking them to cancel the annual subscription
    (4) Within an hour or two got an email confirming the money would not be taken from my account, and that my sub was now cancelled (entirely)
    (5) Whilst logged in to Paramount+, Clicked on OP's link and saw the discounted offer to resubscribe ('may2024wbau' was preloaded in code), selected standard (even though they look like monthly subs) and the next page allowed me to select and pay an annual rate of $44.99

Can confirm the account was unsubscribed and is re-subscribed and working on my device. The only downsides I see are (a) technically I lost a week and a half of monthly subscription I'd already paid for, and (b) about 10min total of email/clicking.

    Thanks OP

Bought a year subscription, but now wish i hadn't. Not much worth watching for me.

    • sounds like they need to offer 100% discount

    • email them and ask for a refund.. im in same boat… purchased 1 year subscription.. then when i saw nothing good in there.. asked for a refund.

  • A quick question!! My current sub e xpires in 10 days!! How do i use this offer? Any tips

    • just open a new accoutn if you're not that attached to your viewing history.
That's what I did. was through Amazon at $5 a month, now have jumped onto Paramount direct at a little more for the premium.

overall, a price increase for me, but still a decrease over the $9.99 it was due to go up to in just under two weeks

  • I subscribed for a year, watched 2 episodes of the new top gear, but besides that nothing interesting, so emailed them and asked to cancel and get refund. not worth having for just top gear (and if it wasnt for Blair, would not even want to watch top gear)

  • I kept getting "Email address is invalid" message when I was trying to sign up. Turns out it was because my password has characters other than letters and numbers.

  • $5.20 per month for the premium, why not, thanks for posting the deal, I rather give them my cash than to that greedy Netflix.

    • You really find the content comparable between the two?

      • For that price, it will keep me going if there is nothing else to watch on Stan, Prime, Disney ;-)

  • How is this a MAY offer yet it ends in May? What are they playing at? Useless!!
