Internet Service Provider (ISP) Churning

Hi there,

I recently churned from Exetel to Superloop for their new customer discounted price.

However, I was unaware that Superloop charges an extra $5 for opting out of CG-NAT, a service that Exetel provided for free. I now wish to switch back to Exetel ASAP.

My question is:

Is there a cool-down period before I can churn back to Exetel and get Exetel's new customer discount?

TIA

Edit: I contacted Superloop to opt out of CG-NAT, and they offered me a static IP for $5/month

Turning off Carrier Grade NAT is free with Superloop. $5/m is for a static IP address.

Carrier Grade Network Address Translation (CGNAT)
Where CGNAT is available, your IP address will default to using CGNAT, unless you specifically request to opt out of CGNAT, which may be approved by Superloop in its discretion. When opting out of CGNAT, a dynamic public IP address will be assigned to the service, however, you may request a static public IP address (at additional cost).

    Static IP
A single Static IP address is available upon request for the additional monthly fee on all residential Superloop nbn plans.
    Static IP $5 (inc. GST)

    Critical information summary

    • Oh really? I contacted Superloop to opt out of CGNAT and they only offered to allocate me a static IP for $5.

Call up and talk to someone else or use the Superloop online chat (red and black icon, bottom right).

Are you a current Superloop customer? —> Yes
What would you like to chat to us about today? —> Manage my account
Please select from one of the following options. —> Change my plan

When you eventually get through to a live operator just ask:

Hi I'd like to opt out of CGNAT please.

Pro tip - do the chat from a device that doesn't go through your Superloop connection. The chat drops out when they change the setting!

Be aware that Superloop (like Exetel) require a 30 day notice of cancellation. Does not apply to old Superloop customers (pre Exetel acquisition)

  • Actually its the other way around Superloop acquired Exetel, but Exetel had better portals and systems then Superloop and so they switched customers from the Superloop ssystems to the new ones. Normally with an acquisition its the other way around.
Superloop invested in a better network though so exetel got to take advantage of that.
