TIL there's Pokemon championships! I knew there was a card game one. Just not the game boy ones.

They're lots of fun. The Pokemon Company hosted regionals in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth this year. All of the card game, video games and Pokemon GO too

        That's sweet as!

  • Still waiting for the game price to drop…

    • $60 is about as low as you'll get unless you look second hand. Nintendo games don't really ever get deep discounts.

      • Been hoping they’ll drop to $45 like last year.

        • There seems to be a bit of a pattern where about 4 - 6 months after launch it'll drop down to around $50 at various places (Amazon, Target etc.) then hikes back up to $70 and just stays there.

You can find most versions for about $50 on Gumtree, Ebay etc. though.

    • Picked up both versions for $48 each at launch.

Edit: sorry, I know that doesn't help now at all, I just wanted to point out that they have been pretty cheap in the past already. They seem to be holding their value better than the Diamond/Pearl remakes despite all the issues.

Diamond and Pearl remakes were DULL and had limited sustained interest. If you played DP, they are literally the same experience with a slap of paint and tiny tweaks.

For all their issues, Scarlet and Violet kind of stay evergreen with regular time-limited raids, quite good DLC and a competitive scene keeping it alive. There's a lot they did right, but most of it is back-loaded, meaning people aren't trading in.

SV's issues stem from trying something new, BDSP's issue stem from doing NOTHING new.
