Samsung Q990D Q Series 11.1.4 Channel Soundbar (2024) $1199 + Delivery ($0 C&C/In-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

490

Seems to be an all time low for this. Sure OZB veterans will be able to edit the post and suggest ways to bring the price further down by price matching / using gift cards.

I have a Q990C myself and very happy with the product. Works straight out the box perfectly, no fiddling with the EQ required.

@Theory pointed out that Perks members can get $30 off a $300 or greater purchase, so brings this down to $1169!

Key Features:

Wireless True Dolby Atmos & DTS:X with 11.1.4ch Surround Sound
Be surrounded by the cinematic sound of Wireless True Dolby ATMOS & DTS:X audio content. Overhead and multi-directional sound powered by 11.1.4 channels immerses you in a captivating experience, all without HDMI cables.1

Samsung Q-Symphony
Immerse yourself in surround sound from both your compatible Samsung TV and Soundbar, without muting the TV speakers. Upgraded Q-Symphony provides AI-optimised audio flowing through all channels.2

SpaceFit Sound Pro
SpaceFit Sound Pro enables you to enjoy sound and bass tailored to your viewing environments, by analysing room reverberations from your soundbar and subwoofer.3

HDMI eARC & 2.1 Connection
HDMI eARC and HDMI 2.1 pass through supports up to 4K @ 120Hz and advanced audio formats such as Dolby Atmos. Seamlessly communicate between compatible TV-connected devices directly to your Soundbar.4

1 Source content must be Dolby Atmos® or DTS:X enabled for Dolby ATMOS® or DTS:X playback. Samsung define "True Dolby Atmos" as featuring an upwards-firing directional speaker for three dimensional sound. Wireless Dolby Atmos transmission via Wi-Fi works with 2022-2024 Samsung TVs (excluding The Frame 32"). Mains power connection required. Sound effects may vary depending on environmental characteristics (including ceiling).
2 Compared to 2023 Q-Symphony. Samsung Q-Symphony is compatible with all 2021-2024 Samsung TVs (excluding The Serif & The Sero). Sound effects may vary depending on environmental characteristics (including ceiling).
3 Sound effects and performance may vary depending on environmental characteristics (including ceiling).
4 TV must support HDMI eARC.

  • worth to upgrade from Q930c to this?

Great price, this would be the cheapest soundbar package with HDMI 2.1 Passthrough easily.

  • How does this compare to Sonos arc ?

    • +4

      Better

    • Well this includes the rear speakers and sub which the Sonos arc alone doesn't

    • Yes, I'd like to know, too… Please report back what you find.

    • +2

it rivals the entire sonos home theatre, ie arc + sub + era100 whilst being a half or third of the price

you can't really go better in terms of value for money.

https://www.youtube.com/@neverenoughtech/videos this guy does really good comparisons.
https://youtu.be/J0S_-AK1jQo?si=cCVXJRj71FPM6xzS is a good video. but it compares between the older q990c and sonos with era300 instead

Got an email today with a $30 off $300 for Perks members, so brings this down to $1169!

Thanks bud - edited the description :)

  • Is this worth $200 more than the q990c (on sale)?

    • Is it available still at that price? most places seem to no longer stock it?

    • Yes if youre after the hdmi 2.1 120hz passtgrough @ 4k

    • Nah. Hdmi 2.1 120hz pass through @4k is not necessary. Just plug your console / pc into the TV instead of the soundbar.

      • Wait if you don't have a console / pc does that mean hdmi 2.1 doesn't do anything for you?

        • This added feature is so you can plug a console / pc / 4k uhd player etc into the soundbar which plugs into the TV. This new feature allows the full 4k 120hz to go through via hdmi 2.1.

The previous gen you could just plug the console /pc / 4k uhd player etc directly into TV and soundbar directly into TV.

It's a small addition but moreso for those that need to plug into the sound bar directly for some reason?

I have q990c for over a year. Definitely worth it.

  • Nice! have been looking at these sammy sound bars recently, for those interested the biggest diff with the C series this is HDMI 2.1 - 120hz if your gaming.

    Q990C vs Q990D comparision:

    Love my Q990C.

  • Is this worth if I have a Sony TV or should I get a Sony soundbar?

    • I have sony TV X75 65 Inch paired with Q990C and it's def worth it. You need smart things App to tweak some settings for the base and surround sound. Not sure about the Sony Sound bars though. For This one I have never went more than 15 on Volume since it's pretty high for our room.

Mines paired with a TCL C845 - brilliant soundbar.

I think the samsung has q-symphony which uses both the soundbar and tv speakers when paired with a samsung tv.

Dont think sony has an equivalent so should be allright.

    • Won't be able to benefit Q-Symphony feature.

  • +1

For those who are wondering why there is no base coming from Subwoofer. In the smart things app, go to device settings, in the centre level make everything 0. Select the bass enhancement option and donot tick voice enhancment. Keep it in Adaptive mode. I have moved around the subwoofer and finally found a best place for bass output beside my Sofa. It can be different for everyone.

    • Hmmm - never had a lack of base tbh and havent changed anything. Q990C btw.

Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?

  • +1

Can anyone recommend a set of speaker stands for the rear speakers?
