Note, it has R1700 curve. Isn't DP 2.1. And has a flickering issue (Rtings review and commentary here: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/alienware-aw3225… )

  • The delivery is very slow. Better to buy from Dell.

    • Agree, but had 300 bucks worth of gift cards so thought it worth a punt.

      • I ordered a month ago and it is not dispatched yet.

    • Dell is very likely to delay the delivery. I ordered on April 24th, seeing website indicate April 26th delivery. Ended up getting a delay notification email Apr 24th night, notifying me a delay to May 20th. Fortunately I got it earlier, May 10th.
Point is, don't trust what Dell says on its website. They can delay it as they want to.

      • That's scummy behaviour! I would hate to getting that email at the last day of delivery. They would know about their stock way before.

In what game and what settings? This kind of comment just brings attention to how uninformed you are.

        Minecraft with mods

          CS with no mods?

      • +3

Bro generally he is correct tho, you aren't gonna play that many games at 4k with that kinda frame rate.

        • 1-2 years ago they already have few on the list that runs 240 at 4k, games are all going on that direction. 1500 is not bad if you have 4080/4090 GPU, might as well buy the good ones.

      • i mean we all want to buy a 4090 and this monitor to play cs go at 4k right

    • Hahahaha common bro. Don't rely too much on magic.

  • Finally caved. Will be interesting to see if it's better than the 34 OLEDs.

The AW2725DF is also on sale

Cheers @dnvrngts add to the post. These two monitors seem to pop up regularly together.

      • @pingMarky any luck with Dell price matching?

        • yes (via Chat). But Dell is charging for shipping and not sure when the delivery ETA. No Student code available for use.

          • @pingMarky: Dang, was hoping I could combine with a student code

        • I've tried, they responded quoting their price matching policy "As per Pricematch Policy The product must not be part of any limited quantity, deal-of-the-day, flash sales, clearance, closeout, discontinued or Dell Outlet.". I dont' see how the jb hifi promotion matches their policy.

          • @nicolascage: Yeah that doesn't sound right. I think it depends on which sales staff member you speak to

            • @dnvrngts: I spoke to two reps. the second price matched. but I'll wait till tomorrow see if the site updates

    • Bought this recently with a student discount, such a great monitor no issues at all, ordered from Dell, less than 2 weeks

  • Out of stock, but Amazon has matched

    • Amazon don't price match though?

      • +1

their price matching is automated I believe

  • Thanks OP. I'm going to wait a bit for stock of the MSI and Aorus to get into the country - and if enough does, then see what happens to those prices if the AW keeps dipping to $1400-$1500. I'm keen for USB-C PD and KVM….but not at a $600-ish premium!

    • Which MSI monitors are you tracking?

      • MPG 321URX

        • Isn't that already in market? It's for $2100 at diff stores.

          • @gardezee: only pre-order as far as I've seen

  • Gonna wait for that LG32 on sale

I know the curve is a put-off for some people, but honestly, after using this for a month now, I find it is a great feature and adds to immersion, while being subtle enough to not distort any content on screen.
Though to be fair, I was already used to a 1000R curve, so my flat 27" IPS (And any other flat display) now looks convex to me lol

Also, just note that ALL QD OLEDS have VRR flicker, and I suspect the LG WOLEDs do too.

The exclusion of DP 2.1 isn't a big deal either as DP 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 with DSC are visually lossless, even if it can hinder certain GPU features (NVIDIA and DSR/DLDSR).

I wonder when will sale end please, wish still have a chance to get some discounted gc first…

    • +1

I assume will run for this weeks catalog as the dell discount is mentioned there

    • +1

      last day is 22/05 :D

    • 2 sales in a 30-day period already. At this frequency, I wouldn't be surprised if they throw another sale before/at EOFY.

Been looking at OLED's for a while, missed the previous sale by a week or two.. kept coming back to this monitor, in the end i spoke to JB chat support and i asked if it would come back on sale during EOFY deals, to which he couldn't answer.
Gave me a "special" price of $1792.49, and until midnight last night to order it (15/5).. so i went ahead, then today (16/5) it comes on sale for $1519.. i was upset to say the least, JB reimbursed me the difference and i am still going ahead with it.
The price on this, is far more appealing than the Asus PG32UCDM and the MSI 321URX.. i don't care for certain features like KVM, and there is really only the three mentioned in the gen3 OLED category right now, LG to follow but again, price is high.
First time giving a slightly curved monitor a try!

    • Agreed, the markup on the other monitors just isn't worth it for the few extra features, like a KVM. At the end of the day, you're buying it to enjoy the 4k QD-OLED display.
And don't fret the curve, I'm sure you'll love it!

    • I just wanna let you know that we promiseeee we salespeople have no idea about upcoming sales ever. Only regional managers really would know. Thank god for the 2 week price difference guarantee tho :D

    • Can't agree more. ASUS pricing in Australia is ridiculous, so is in Europe. Somehow Alienware becomes a good bargain in many cases. Weird.

  • How long do we think it would take for Dell to price match this?

    • +1

      Hopefully by tomorrow

    • +1

Just talk to Dell sale assistants on their website. They'll manually match.

  • +1

Bought this after holding out for a good deal on the MSI MPG321URX, curve doesn't bother me at all during gaming or during photo editing (I was originally very anti curve). Couldn't ignore the $700 discount over the MSI and i'm so glad I bit the bullet.

Ordering through dell I got it in 3-4 days

  • My order says delivery by 11th June, hopefully not that long

Got this from the Dell sale last month. Great monitor.

Anyone have a review on productivity?
I'm spinning out SQL on Databricks for hours a day and theres no dark mode on their SQL workbench.

    • It's obviously not a monitor you want to buy if you only use it for productivity, but I work on mine during the day and game on it during the night, and I have no serious complaints. I'd like it to be a little brighter for SDR work, but I've already gotten used to it and find it good enough even with a window open or a light on. Text fringing is so slight that it's generally unnoticeable unless I pay attention to it. And all the trade-offs for work are worth it when I game on it at night, it's glorious.

I'm taking minimal precautions against burn-in. I have my taskbar dimmed but not hidden, and I've set the monitor to sleep after 5 minutes, but that's it. I'm not intending to check for burn in (greyscale patterns, etc), I'll only do something about it if I notice it in real-world use. Dell's warranty service is good, so if it burns in within 3 years then I'll get an exchange and re-evaluate how I use it, and if it burns in after that then I'm OK with living with it or upgrading at that point.

      • Thanks. Ill be sure to to set the auto-off.
I'm buying it to re-engage with games with winter coming up.

      • +2

I work from home and have been using the monitor for work at day and gaming at night.

        In terms of text quality:
        - I can make out some colour fringing on the text only when I move my face within 20-30cms. This is a non-issue for normal usage.
        - I have a Dell IPS 27" (S2722DC) monitor as a secondary monitor. If I was to take a moment to concentrate on the sharpness difference, I'd say the AW3225QF has about 97% ish sharpness compared to the S2722DC. My brain has adjusted to productivity with both side by side and honestly I am not bothered by it at all when I work off spreadsheets etc. The IPS panel can get brighter than the OLED so if anything that's the biggest difference I notice when I move tabs from one monitor to the other.

I've always been a fan of dark mode anyway so adjusting to the AW3225QF with that mode was easy.

        For gaming:
-I wasn't initially wowed with the OLED monitor as I expected to be. I tried a handful of games and while it was more vibrant, I wasn't sure if the improvement was worth a $1k upgrade over a good IPS panel
-It took a week or so until I had my "oh-shi.." moment while playing helldivers 2. There was a mission where the sunset + sandstorm was creating a bright orange sun lit sky and very dark shadows off the cliffs…and wow the contrast and different shades of reds blew me away as I made my way through the terrain.

  • Dell has matched the price. Got it with student discount. June 12 delivery :(

    • Be aware they didn't match the 27inch price correctly. Jb has it for $1119, Dell brought it down to $1199

  • Anyone got theirs yet?
