Was looking at this old deal marked as expired then I found that it had a decent and similar discount. Tried reopening the old deal but was prompted to post a new one.

Good CPU for those looking to upgrade their AM4 builds without spending too much.

  • damn wish these deals were around when i bought a 5600x 6 months ago. X3D was double the price at the time

  • Is this a good upgrade from a 3600x for 1440p gaming? My gpu is 6750xt.

Short answer is yes, but long answer is I doubt it's enough to be worth it. A 3600X is unlikely to be a bottle neck in most applications - particularly gaming.
Better off savings those pennies for AM5 later.

Short answer is, it's a good upgrade, but might not worth it, given 6750xt.

Ok that wasn't a short answer, it also depends the games you play and the framerates you're targeting. I think the upgrade would be noticeable on morden games (espcially badly optimized ones). You most likely won't see huge fps different in many games, but the 1% low improvement will definitely make most feel smoother. If you go down this route, you probably could sell your 3600x for $50 to sweeten the deal.

Personally, I'd go for a platform upgrade at this point. You're probably looking at roughly $500 for 7600 + AM5 board + 32GB RAM if you hunt for good deals. Honestly 3600x and 6750xt are a decent pair. Save up for a total upgrade down the line.

If you play esports games i.e. Valorant, Counter-Strike you will see a pretty big fps jump. Going from a 3600 to 5800X (non 3d) brought my fps from hovering around 150-200 to consistently getting 450+ on Valorant with a 6700xt at 1440p, though I've capped it at 300 due to nasty coil whine.

      • What’s your fps in CS2 with the new CPU?

        • +1

Around 200-350 depending on where I'm looking or how much action is on screen

          • @celery juice: looks like the CPU did gave a good CPU boost? I'm running the same GPU and wondering which to upgrade

  • +2

Mine arrived from the previous deal yesterday. Installed and working fine. Upgraded from a 3600.

    • How have you found the upgrade?
      Tempted to do the same

      • The upgrade itself was easy. ;) I only installed it last night, so haven't had a chance to test as yet. From the reviews I've watched it really depends on the games you're playing, resolution and GPU you're using.

I only purchased as it was very cheap in the previous deal ~$270 delivered and I can sell my 3600 at a decent price.

      • I did my upgrade today from the previous deal. Don't forget to upgrade your BIOS if you have a b450 board as the stock version will likely not support this CPU by default.

  • Showing AU$286.54 for me when I click?

Edit: ahhh the stupid GST rubbish

Doesn't really seem like it is worth the risk and Australian warranty / consumer protections, to save $40.

    https://www.umart.com.au/product/amd-ryzen-7-5700x3d-8-core-…

    For $359.

    • at this price 40 bucks is still more than 10% extra- but I fully agree. Not worth the risk in my opinion, especially if you are located somewhere near a store and can pick up (like me).

    • Use paypal, if they don't cover it through warranty worst case you do a chargeback even if they disable your account afterwards.

At this price may as well wait for the next ebay sale, it was $320 in the last one.

  • +1

Wait a couple of weeks for the next ebay sale - they'll be around this price from a local retailer.

    • But I feel the need for speed NOW
