  • $20-$500 TCN Luxury eftpos - $7.95 fee —> $500 card —> 5000 points (worth min $25 or more if you convert qantas) —> savings around $17.

Can we use this card to pay Council bills?

    • +2

The TCN Luxury eftpos gift card can only be used in-person at merchants that choose to accept prepaid eftpos gift cards as a payment method, so it depends on whether the merchant (e.g. council offices, Australia Post) will let you pay your council rates using a prepaid eftpos gift card.

If your council rates are over $500 (or whatever the available balance is on your gift card), it will also depend on whether the merchant can handle split payments.

      • +1

        okay sure thank you.

        • I paid the council rate bill in person. They were able to split the payments without any issue.

    • +1

I'm sure it would work if you live in a luxury postcode.

  • Can you add the EFTPOS card to Google pay?

    https://auspayplus.com.au/brands/eftpos-consumers-mobile-pay

    • +2

      No.

The TCN Luxury eftpos gift card cannot be directly added to a mobile wallet, and it also currently cannot be exchanged for a digital TCN eftpos gift card.

      • What is digital EFTPOS gc? So you can add to Google Pay/Apple Pay? Is this kind of Visa/MC?

        • +1

It is a prepaid eftpos gift card that can be added to Apple Pay or Google Wallet. (I believe it does not support Samsung Wallet at the moment.) It is not a Visa card nor Mastercard, and it does not need Visa nor Mastercard to function.

You need to use the TCN app to tokenise the gift card so it can be added to the mobile wallet, as there is no way at the moment you can manually add an eftpos-only card to a mobile wallet.

There was a deal late last year for the digital TCN eftpos gift card.

          • @WookieMonster: Are you able to add the digital TCN gift cards to wallet? When I tried it goes could not add card try again later or contact your card issuer for more information.

Is the luxury EFTPOS MCC restricted??

    • +2

      Nope

  • -1

If the luxury gift card isn’t MCC restricted can it be used to purchase other gift cards at a supermarket? The old endless loop of gift card buying gift cards?

    • +5

No, because MCC (Merchant Category Code) is a restriction implemented by card issuers to limit where you can use the cards based on merchant types, and the marketing blurb for these are that they are available for use anywhere where EFTPOS is accepted. The limitation is that cash withdrawals are not permitted.

It's woolies/coles who block on their side to stop gift cards purchasing gift cards, this isn't an MCC restriction, it's likely a BIN restriction (bank identification number) which would stop cards issued by TCN or other gift card vendors from being used to purchase gift cards.

      • -3

        Great explanation!

        • -3

there is a way to utilise the EFTPOS gift card funds and then you can use those funds like a visa or master debit card to buy whatever you want that Master or Visa is accepted but requires some effort

also can cash it out if you want with a small fee

but no you can't do the endless loop thing at the supermarket and even if you can the discounts will get so little each time not worth it

          • -1

@Poor Ass: How can you cash out?

            • -1

@cloudy: There's ways but it's hardly worth the effort and you'll likely trigger anti fraud/money laundering alerts with any decent amount.

Does anyone know if the Shopback supermarket gift card can be used to buy this?

    • +2

Vaniila Visa: someone told me a few weeks ago they got an Items Not Allowed error when they tried this.

TCN Luxury eftpos: I have not heard any reports, but I 100% expect the Items Not Allowed error to appear if you try this, because the same error appears if you try to use a ShopBack Supermarket Visa gift card to purchase the other two types of TCN eftpos gift cards sold at Woolworths.

      Uber: it will probably work.

      • -3

Hey @WookieMonster do you know if these Luxury EFTPOS cards can be used to buy other gift cards at Officeworks, Coles or Myer? Thanks!

        • +2

Officeworks: that is tricky, because I have never used an eftpos gift card at Officeworks that shares the BIN with the eftpos gift card in this deal. I know you cannot use Westfield eftpos gift cards at Officeworks for anything (not even for purchases of regular goods, such as stationery), as you get a Declined - Card Not Accepted on the EFTPOS terminal as soon as you swipe the Westfield eftpos gift card. Btw, keep in mind that Officeworks has a gift card policy that forbids you from using any gift card to purchase any gift card from them, so even if there are no automatic blocks, a staff member who is really on the ball can ruin your plans (which happened to me twice).

Coles: I have not used an eftpos gift card at Coles that shares the BIN with the eftpos gift card in this deal within the last two years. However, there was this comment on a recent Coles deal.

Myer: I have never used an eftpos gift card at Myer, so I really have no idea what kind of automatic blocks Myer has implemented (but knowing Myer, there is likely none at all). Keep in mind that at Myer, when you are purchasing a Coles Group & Myer (or Myer) gift card, the staff member has to swipe the gift card first to activate it before asking for payment from you, so if your eftpos gift card is declined (or rejected by staff) when you go to pay, you still have to pay for the gift card another way.

        • It's an EFTPOS card that works everywhere. Why turn it into a store specific card?

          • @JIMB0: probably wasn't thinking

          • @JIMB0: Because, it cannot be spent online, and everyone wants different use-cases. For example, buying discounted Apple cards to load balance with the EFTPOS card which yields further discount.

            • @joeiwu: You'd be better off buying Apple cards from the supermarket when they're having a deal.

              • @JIMB0: That's precisely why I'm asking. Coles 20x flybuy points, then buy using EFTPOS card. Double-dip, no?

                • @joeiwu: It might work for buying a card that isn't open loop. They've gotten good at blocking these cards nowadays.

  • can we buy multiple times per day for the tcn lux card

    • +1

      2 per day

but can do more if you have 2 or more woolies reward accounts

    • yes

  • Can I pay rego and costco fuel by using TCN Luxury eftpos card?

    • +1

      Rego yes at Australia Post

Costco fuel no as you'll need a debit or credit card for their readers

      • Thanks you

      • Worked for me at costco fuel so i think it depends on the readers at the store u go to

        • So you shoved the card in the slot and it holds it until the transaction is complete?

          • @Poor Ass: I think you gotta slide it in and out slowly with the black strip on the bottom right

            • @littleburrito: it's been awhile since I been there but last time you had to insert and they hold your card until the entire transaction is complete then it releases your card

  • +1

2 Woolies in my local dont have the cards. Either hidden or staff put them on tomorrow

  • +1

Cant find this card, went to 4 local stores

  • +1

  • +2

    • -1

Problem is finding a store that has stock

    • +4

have been doing this, but one AP lady went off at me today when she saw the card face and worked out it was a gift card… when I questioned what the problem was she said "gift cards are for buying… things"

good. I'll buy some tax thanks.

  • Anyone know where in Brisbane in stock?

  • Can TCN Luxury eftpos gift used for buying groceries from Coles or Woolies?

    • yep

  • Has anyone tried to use this to buy Apple gift cards at Coles?

    • +1

I’ve used one of the previous Eftpos cards from the deal a few weeks ago and that worked for iTunes At Coles so I imagine these would too.

  • tried 3 woolies yesterday, no stock

  • +1

I grabbed 2 cards yesterday and 2 cards this morning.

However, please check rear cards as few silver tab or "scratchie" has been compromised.

    • I managed to find 2. I too noticed how easy it was to just peel back the scratch part and then reapply. I guess the concern is someone could register your card online once it's loaded then they claim it as their own and report it lost, then get a card reissued to them?

      • -1

yes I feel the same . Its safer not to buy them and wait for something else

  • Anyone could find the Luxury EFTPOS in Melbourne?

    • No, you may need to try regional

      • Try Bright / VIC - plenty!!

        • Someone DM me this afternoon.

It is Bright / VIC, not Brighton / VIC.

  • -2

How can I identify the luxury gift card? There are 3 TCN black eftpos cards without any branding.

    • The card clearly says 'Luxury'.

      • Ohk.. thanks

  • +1

No cards of either in 5 Woolworths near me

And only 1 had some Uber cards (Ashfield NSW)

    • yeah, gave up

  • -2

Update: Tried using this card. Barely works at stores. Support phone line is disconnected. Buyer beware.

  • I can no longer use these Vanilla Visa cards on Paypal or Sniip (complains about failed card verification) anyone else in the same boat?
